thats what you assume, but tmobile just took the $440 i owed them, and its been in collection for like 2 years. i had some ---- from columbia house in collections, and they accecpted payemtns. most companies who sell dept prob have a contract that they will refund the sale price if the recover the money. either that or the just kept the diffrernce and paid the collection company

Hmmm....strange. I guess they could have some sort of contract, but your debt is sold just like anything and the collection agency pays x% of what the original debt is. Just like if I sold you my car, I couldn't take money from Joe Schmoe 2 weeks later for the same car. You would think they would lose their ass buying unpaid debt like that, but they sure the ---- seem to be staying busy. :7

Also, when a collection account opens you're pretty much fucked UNLESS you get a WRITTEN and signed paper from them saying they will DELETE after the account is paid in full. Alot of times people think paying it will make it go away, but it still shows up as a paid collection which looks just as bad. :-\ ---- collection companies. In 2 years they can all go ---- themselves because that ---- will be off my record and I'll make damn sure it gets removed. :6 I've had quite a few of them removed by just disputing them. I bought a Dell laptop and a Dell PC and never paid for them. Dell just gave up and stopped reporting. :4

lol.... if I ever need advise on anything bad on my credit report, I'm gonna go straight to doc boost... seems he has some experience with it.

Quick question - I have a card with Key Bank that I never use (bad interest rate & crappy limit), but the only reason I haven't closed it is because it's my oldest record of credit (I've only had credit for just over 2 years). I shouldn't close that one right?

I would keep it open. I have a card that I've had for 3 years now, has a 0 balance and a $59 annual fee. I only keep it open to help my credit. Old credit accounts are VERY good for your credit. If it's a bad interest rate, who cares as long as you don't carry a balance.

Actually, I have 3 cards that have a $300 limit and a $59 annual fee, all with a 0 balance. It sucks having to pay the annual fee, but it's the only thing pushing my credit score up. :-\ I have another card I've had for 5 years with a $6500 limit that I was late on once a few years ago, but I disputed it and they decided since I'm a long term customer in good standing that they would let it go. :6
