Got a project for the homemade people

Re: Got a project for the homemade people
i dont know if anyone remembers the mugen turbo kit. the one that basically placed the turbo behind the engine and almost in between the firewall.. or in that neighborhood.
they pointed the turbo at a postive angle to make the charge pipe go vertical and then turn right into the intake manifold. i thought this might not be a bad idea. you could add a water cooler.. so no fmic, and also the charge pipe would be like less than 2 foot total length.
to get rid of the 90 degree turn, you could even go as far as removing the intake manifold and running itbs. i thought this would be a 'neat' idea, but not sure if it would be as practical. it would make for prett equal air distribution to each cylinder instead of one opening at the end sharing to 4 cylinders. all you would need to do for the intake is run it above the tranny and out to the cai area.
i figured a problem would be bracing the turbo, but you can use the bracket that comes down from the engine (on the d series and b series.. not sure about the others) to hold the pipe.
but under the hood would look like a cai and weird intake manifold and a header, if you wanted the sleeper look under the hood too.
it would be a lot of work though. maybe when i get a welder and have ---- tons of spare time. i might try something crazy. but until then, don't look for a write up until im about 30

Dude just give it up noone on here wants to do something that HCI did in a magazine. Granted it probally will work but its mostly just for a WOW factor and would be at a performance loss. And noone here is gonna put that much time into a car that doest make it go any faster.
