The Avtomat Kalashnikov 47 has by far the most confirmed kills then any other fire arm in history, not only was it the most high produced assault riflle but it also has the longest adverage life span. The AK 47 is the most widely spead weapon in the world, more then 50 current day armies carry them in their arsenal. As stated above it has been put on flags, it's been put on money and coins. and in most parts of the world theyw ill cost you less then $200.

This is why a lot of our troops are rather pissed off. It sucks to shoot someone with a .22 cal bullet that just rips right through him leaving a small hole.

The Kalashnikov was invented in 1949. The .22 round was invented in 1845. Even w/ the amount of AK's in existence, it can't beat the hundred year jump the .22 has on it. It definitely will eventually overtake the .22, but I don't see it happening soon.

well, you can get them in the same gain too.

ive had 55grain 3600fps rounds for my .223 before.

and there are some larger 22LR rounds

It may have 100 year of more use but you need to look at other factors, Look at the advencment made in guns. Back in the 1800's it may have taken 100 rounds per kill while in the fifty's it could have been half that. Not only that but think about the war in from the middle of the 20th centery to now compaired to the mid 19th centery to the mid 20th. You have WWI and part of WWII in the 1850 to 1950. now look at 1950 till now, NAM!! a twenty year war between russia and afganistan, korea, both iraq wars, kuiwat, samilia, the list goes on and on. there were more wars from 1950 to present day then there was from the 1400's to the 1900's and thats a fact.

WWII was from 1939 to 1945. 4 years before the AK was even invented.
You're also basing this on a 'MAY', it may have taken 100 shots to kill someone. You don't know, neither do I.

I do know that during Vietnam, the average amount of ammunition expended per confirmed kills of VC was over 100 rds.

Between WWI & WWII, there were over 60,000,000 (military/non-military included) deaths worldwide. Even if only 10% of the people that died as a result of those wars from a .22 caliber weapon. It's 6,000,000 would trump the last 50 years. Another thing to consider is how poor some of the countries involved in these wars were. .22's are cheap. Always have been. Makes it easy for people w/ less money to attain, and therefore defend yourself with.
