Got fucked over last night *rant*
I'm down at college in San Luis Obispo and last night me and my buddy drove up to San Jose and bought him a clean as hell 2001 R6. After we get home we're sitting around watching tv at his place and I get a call..
My friend was driving downtown and he saw another "friend" pulled over in my car and in handcuffs. I speed downtown to my car and it's already half way on the tow truck by the time I get there. My friend is belligerently drunk and being a dick to the cops. He already has a DUI on his record and he was going to get his license back in May, he was super drunk, he was going 82 in a 35 and he had stolen my car to do it. (the keys were sitting on the coffee table) I didn't want to follow up on a stolen car charge because it's a felony and I still didn't want to ---- this kid too much worse than he already is. BUT... if I didn't file the charge then I could get stuck with the $350 impound fee. I know he wouldn't be good for it unless I took action. So now my car is in the impound lot. thank god i just got a motorcycle or I would have been much more pissed at my car getting towed. My ex-friend is in jail, and I'm pissed because i want to play hockey this sunday and my gear is in the back of the car. My friend also tried to claim the gear was his and said he was going to go play hockey. ----!!!!! Why the ---- is it so hard to keep your ---- together? Get a job, go to class, don't do tooooo many drugs, and don't drive drunk. Keep good friends, learn from people's mistakes and use common sense. Intelligent people are depressingly hard to come by. FUCKFCUKFUCK. ha.. and the bastard gets to spend the weekend in jail on 50,000 bail.. serves him right ok. /rant |

that sucks but have you tried to explain what happened to the cops?? I wouldn't exactly say he stole your car, but that he borrowed it....that way HE should have to pay for the impound fees instead of you. Good luck!

I wouldn't press charges for taking the car (depends on how good of a "friend" he was), but obvoiusly make him pay the impound fee. A second DUI is going to cost him quite a bit of $$$. |

ya... i am going to get it out soon. I wasn't planning on letting it rot. and HE should be the one paying the fees. They knew that we did hang out but I wasn't home and he took the car without asking and then drove it drunk. By filing the stolen car report he is more obligated to pay the impound fee than if I hadn't filed.
He's gonna get fucked for this one but I don't even care. People like this don't learn from their lessons. so he's ---- out of luck in my book |

Newsflash, he stole your car. Why the ---- didn't you press charges? He stole your car, and proceeded to go out and get smashed in it and drive it at a speed and in a manner that meant he was going to total it because he doesn't give a ---- about you.
You need to smash in his door and steal all this ----, every last item down to his dirty underwear that needs to be laundered, sell $205 + time and hassle money worth of it, and ------- burn the rest. |

Ya, his buddy just came by and asked me what happened last night because he got a call from the bail bondsman this morning. The kids bail is set at 20k. I'm curious what happens after this..
the shitty part is i do have 2 classes with this kid and my room mate is good friends with him. So... awkward. but, ---- it and ---- him. Everyone knows that he messed up and he deserves it. |

PS - gen4, that's not e-thuggin, that's a biting comment directed at how the legal system works. I've been through the legal system enough to know that, despite what words come out of my mouth, all the judge hears is that I'm white and I have money for fines. |

Yah, know how that goes. My roomate just totalled my accord friday morning up on Skyline near La Honda. Locked up the brakes for nearly 200 feet, hit a small embankment, up, over, and down the side of the hill into a grove of redwoods. This all after I told him to bring my damn car home earlier that night. Not to mention I found out from the police his license was already suspended. He's only called me once since he got out of jail.

I said white AND money for fines, I didn't say just white or just money for fines. I am basing my opinion on Buncombe County (ashEVILle, NC) night court which handles primarily traffic and simple drug possession charges. This is the *perfect* environment to base opinions on legal system bias because at no time does the judge have any information on the defendant, he/she just sits there and glares myopically at all comers. The ADAs are the ones who instruct the courtroom as to the charge - which is typically pleabargained or reduced by another one of the ADAs before the defendant enters the courtroom - and to the defendant's previous legal history as they see fit. So, basically, the judge's bias towards skin color, sex, etc, is readily apparent... as is the DA's office if you are standing fore or aft of someone less than white while they do the plea deals before you enter the courtroom. You simply have to open your eyes to see it. At this point I have to state that losing my license four times in the last decade makes me a freaking expert on this. It's pretty apparent when the black boy in the hall who has the same speeding ticket as you - say, 75 in a 35, for example - gets his knocked down to a 60 in a 35 and warned that the judge might decide to pursue wreckless driving charges even if the citing officer didn't ... and then the ADA looks up at you, says, "You again? What car were you raising hell in this time, the Triumph or the Honda?" and scratches 44 in a 35 on your citation, initials it, without commentary. Sitting in the courtroom and watching a 19-20 year old spic kid get elected to wreckless driving duty for exactly what you're in court for, and then having your charge processed without commentary four cases later even though the judge knows you on sight paints the picture pretty freaking clear in my mind. I felt really bad about it at one point, before I got jaded and stopped caring, and told a judge that I was getting a lot of tickets and still not slowing down, that I had no excuse, and that I thought she should make an example of me - the judge ate that ---- up, told me the guilt was what I needed, and sent me out with the usual. Oh, I watch whiteboys who don't have money for fines get jailtime or red hot irons laid to their ass, too. I broke things down real simple for one of the ADAs once, showed him a thick fold of money and said, "pay to play," which is about as cavalier and arrogant an attitude someone can have about public safety when they are facing two DLRs, three FTAs, wreckless driving, 70 in a 55, 108 in a 55, two inspection tickets, and some emissions violation for "a visible plume of tailpipe emissions lasting longer than a period of five seconds," wtfever that stupid ---- is about. The ADA liked it, though, and dropped the inspection and emissions violations, struck the FTAs and one of the DLRs, and I ended up resolving the rest of the matter for a sum total of $174 in fines (which I had already paid), a PJC 12, and the $20 fee they charge at DMV to make another copy of my license. All those charges, less than $200, less than white ----------ers serving jailtime or losing licenses for a third of those concurrent charges much less the entirety of my driving record. For what it's worth, with my ludicrous driving record which AGAIN wasn't brought up or even asked about even though the whole DAs office knew my exact situation in detail, and the judge and I went back for a good decade worth of legal goodness, I got that PJC on the 108 in a 55 and the second DLR dropped at the same time representing myself. LAWYERS can't get the PJC alone for single digit percentages of their clients even when the client pays top dollar. You see, most people in authority (even minorities) like friendly white people with straight teeth in their mouth more than they like not-white people, or white trash people who render themselves not-white by their manner of comportment like CspecRun. Personally, I think it's a fucked up situation. |

What JD says is common sense, my friend put a guy in hospital with a bat. It was over really stupid ---- but was pre-planned and pretty dark :X
Anyway, he put on a suit, pointed out he was actually a nice middle class boy and got 50hrs of community service and a fine. The court makes prejudicial judgements on whether they think your poor, because poor people can't pay fines and generally make up a larger percentage of offenders. I've had it myself, 55 in a 30 and they let me off with a rectification notice for a broken indicator bulb, because I was pleasant and apologetic when pulled over. If i were black, i reckon i'd have got a fine. I don't care anymore, my mates just become a barrister and my aunt has just become a magistrate. |

You cannot compare your speeding violations with crimes such as assault and battery, theft of any type, or possesion of any type of controlled substance(ALCHOHOL or NARCOTIC). A MAJORITY of young BLACK males in this country are charged with crimes of this nature. WITHOUT THE POSESSION of large amounts of financial funds or legal representation they are MUCH MORE LIKELY to receive a stiffer and LONGER SENTENCE....ESPECIALLY when they are REPEAT OFFENDERS. A young white male convicted of these types of crimes(I was always more prone to find trouble in the controlled substance statutes) will ALSO receive a STIFF and LENGTHY sentence of incarceration....WITHOUT THE POSESSION of large amounts of financial funds or legal representation.
