Maybe it's the DSM's here that are slow. I don't understand how you go from a 15 second 1/4 mile down to a 12.5 by cranking boost changing the air filter and dropping the exhaust.

What kind of power output do you get for your $150 in mods? If stock is 210 and the guy is banging mid 12's that must mean he either went on a serious diet, or is full of ---- or is making 350ish hp at the crank. Consider the 300hp STi. It's lighter than the 210hp DSM and runs low 13's. I was making 320hp at 2940lbs in my STi 2 years ago and managed to bang off a 12.9@104 without beating up on the gearbox too badly.

I don't know how you can get the 14b turbo to flow that sort of air. I don't think it's possible. Make lots of power? Engine management, fuel system upgrade, turbo upgrade, intake, exhaust, intercooler, clutch etc. Lots of coin into it.

were mostly talking about the 1G dsms, not the fatter "pretty boy" 2nd gen dsms.

To make you think even harder the 1G dsms weren't 210hp, they were 190hp.

the stock exhaust on the 1Gs is restrictive as ----.. i think its 2 inch pipe... 20 lbs plus 2 inch pipe = bad idea.... open it up and thats a tremendous gain.

the AWD cars run ~ 15 flat... 20 lbs, rewire the fuel pump, and atleast a 2.5 inch exhaust puts you high/ mid 13's with a good driver.... from that point on you pretty much have to drop some cash to get fast... or completey gut the car.....

if you dont care about comfort... you can drop prolly about a half a second... get rid of the power seats and all that cushy bullshit... its heavy.. take out the bumper supports etc....

they can be fast for $$.. pretty much the top of the "bang for the bug" list

sometimes i miss my gst -pictured at the right- it was a fun car and i beat up on hondas and 5.0s with it alot. hole shots were nearly impossible with the t-25 turbo. it would spool full boost at like 2500 rpms

well if any of you wanna talk ---- about DSMs, ill take ya for a spin in my FWD and you will probably not talk much ---- after that. everyone with B16 I/H/E think they are hot ---- with their CRXs around here and i just laugh when i can come off the line in 2nd gear and still own the ---- outta them. people talk alot of ---- about DSMs, but not many other 4cyl can make 400whp on stock internals. thats just sick. but to each their own. i love my DSM cuz it rides like a caddy, even at 140mph. and it looks pretty fkn good, and sounds good, and will beat alot of cars on the street, may not run all the time like a honda, but id rather drive my DSM 3 days a week then drive a civic 7 days a week anyday. i would rather walk.
