These guys are local to me. The site is called "Air brush depot" but they have tons of books and DVDs on painting techniques. They carry some good supplies as well.http://www.tcpglobal.com/AirbrushDep...FQPLbwodxTt0CQ

What? I painted my friend's Tercel in a home-made draft booth in his backyard. You just need some wood to build a frame for the tent, and plastic tarp to make a draft, oh and a fan. Seriously everything, including his "Gloss Frost" paint cost around $1k Which isn't that bad considering what people usually charge around here for 5 coats and a gloss. |

Do the body work yourself , then take it to Macco with the car disassembled..
I helped paint my corvair in a garage with a friend who is a rep from a paint company. With wet sanding the car has a paintjob as good as any new car or better..... No idea as to cost , everything was pretty much free. We used a standox single stage paint. Car was very straight to begin with. Still spent Months LongBoarding the car. but it's all in the prep... Can't stress that enough.. Attachment 20152 Attachment 20153 Attachment 20154 I just did the engine bay on my GRM $2008 Challenge car... even that took a few days to get nice .. I ground out all the original seam sealer and Mig'd the seams.. factory welds are ---- and I want this to be a stiff car.. I re-sealed the seams with factory grade stuff , primed and painted it... First hit it with a 3M scotch bright... Attachment 20155 I will do the prep on this one , but will send it to macco for the final product. |
