A/F gauges are pretty much useless. Save you money and get an EGT. It will tell you more than that will. Or better yet save and buy a wideband.

Will that work with both a wide band and a narrow band O2 or does it really matter to the gauge which you are running?

digital voltage meter from sears for $10 extend the leads to your o2 sensor and duct tape the meter to you dash ;D

wideband o2>egt gauge... egts arent that fast responding

the only good air/fuel gauge is a wideband, i was dumb once and bought a AFR gauge, was nothing more than a stupid lightshow that i wanted to rip outta the dash after a week.

i've got an autometer carbon series a/f gauge and it looks nice and bling but it doesnt show much... just sits in the top 3 bars since my car runs so rich. i'm probably going to change over to an EGT sometime soon once ive got some bills

Well, neither one replaces the other.
The EGT is more of a safety feature to tell you when you're definitely doing something wrong although the wideband shows rich. It's a good idea to not rely entirely on one instrument!

Re: Good air/fuel gauge ??

I think both suck in my opinion, the egts are only good for showing peak stoich readings. Alot of people think the lower the EGT the richer WHICH IS NOT TRUE. EGT's raise when going lean and rich. Here is a nice paragraph I found on google about this:
Some gauge manufacturers say you should tune to achieve maximum or peak EGT for maximum performance. This is incorrect. Peak EGT generally occurs at an AFR of around 14.7- 15.0 to 1 on gasoline. This is far too lean for maximum power and is dangerous under continuous WOT conditions. Many people think that the leaner you go, the higher the EGT gets. This is also incorrect. Peak EGT occurs at stoichiometry- about 15 to 1 for our purposes. If you go richer than 15 to 1, EGT will drop and if you go leaner than 15 to 1 EGT will ALSO drop. It is VERY important to know which side of peak EGT you are on before making adjustments. It is safe to say that peak power will occur at an EGT somewhat colder than peak EGT.

Just a little food for thought ;)
