Default going from a honda 1.5L to a chevy 5.7l?

Hey guys I'm thinking about getting a chevy v8 to test my fuel system out on. I figured I might as well get a old truck since I could use it to haul crap around and they are cheap around here. Im sure some of you guys have some insight on some older trucks. I'm looking at some mid 1980 swb trucks. Most have had the engine replaced and the dealer told me that you cant tell the difference from a 350 from 305 without pulling the motor. (sounds like BS to me). When buying a truck that old what should I look for? Of course this truck will be converted to fuel injection and electronic ignition using my system then it will be turboed.

Thanks
Nick

350 ownes a 305 huge difference, get a p/u with a 350/350 combo. I wouldnt bother with a 305. Older silverado's had a 350 f/i 4 bolt main block and would be the perfect turbo project.

hard to tell a 305 from a 350 just be looking at it if someone has modified it...

not many full sized trucks came with 305s

checking casting numbers to see what is accually in there might be a good idea.
truck motors often have good heads too.

Don't worry about 2 or 4 bolt mains, doesn't make any difference.

Lingerfelter was asked once, early in his career when he'd started making his name but hadn't become $$$$ yet, if he had any problem finding enough 4 bolt blocks. "No problem at all. I don't use them."
