God damn wiring angst >:O (obd1 harness pin removal)
does anyone know an easy way to get the pins out of an obd1 wiring harness?
I had to hardwire my obd1 harness into my obd0 car because the guy who was going to send me a pm5 for the conversion harness dragged his *** and i have no ecu and have to leave sunday. The motor is a d16z6 and the ecu is a p28.
And of corse a few of the pins are missing from the obd1 harness that NEED to get the car going but I cannot get the ------- pins out of the harness to swap some not-used pins into the holes where i need them!!!!
I found this thread on honda-tech:
http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=...ostid=10349509
but i still cannot get the damn pins out. i managed to get 2 out by accident but that tiny screw driver i was using freaking broke and even then it took me a good 20 minutes of ------- with it to get those out and i'm sure they came out by accident.
also; will the obd1 computer need to be connected to the EGR valve (even though its not connected to anything) to not throw a code? the egr and like 3 major signal wires are missing from the harness and i have like 7 wires left over but i dont want to connect the egr if i dont have to.
finally what about VTEC? if the oil pressure thinger isn't connected will it throw a code or cause the high cam lobes to not engage?
i need to find a plug to connect the oil pressure thing and i figured i'd hardwire the spool silenoid.

yeah those things are a pain. i say do what 88dx said. much easier on yourself that way. and yes it will throw a check light if vtec and vtec oil pressure isnt hooked up. unless u disable it in the chip using uberdata or some other type of Rom editing program.

i spent all ------- day running around lubbock texas looking for a ------- salvage yard that had any obd0 or obd1 plugs so i wouldnt have to hack up the distro wiring and get the parts to finish the ------- harnes..
WELL....
all i wound up doing was wasting a half tank of gas and get ------- god damn NOTHING from a bunch of fat ------- loser hick cousin ------- douche bag retards that had never heard of honda nor had ANYTHING from 88-95.....
either they were some dumb ------- lazy ******** or west texas bites hard **** (probably both)
so yeah; i'm ------- pissed about that too
no salvage yards around here have anything....

the pins where there is NOTHING in the hole is where i need a pin..... there is nothing there to solder too; i need to take out one of my unused pins and put in a hole where it is needed to get the car running; but i can't do that because the ------- pins WILL NOT ------- come out

Are you folding down these on the back of the plug?
I use a mini screwdriver from the front. After a few tries, it gets easier
look through the back with a flashlight, and you be able to see the plastic piece that latches the pin in. Then you'll know what to do with the screwdriver.

yes im folding down the plug
i didnt know it was a plastic clip holding the pin in.
i guess i never looked that closely at the plug; i'll finish up the rest of the wiring today and give her a whirl!
