I thought starter motors can go bad if they are on for long periods of time? Anyways it's kinda neat

i'm not exactly sure either... doesn't the starter turn the thing that once the car is running it makes the started go faster in turn shortening the life of the starter?... oh well i have no ------- clue.. pretty cool though, that guy should put like 2 on, and add once of those solar cell battery chargers

Re: Go Kart powered with a Honda starter
Maybe I shoulda read more closely. If he left the starter alone and just hooked it up to a battery it would fry in no time for sure.
* Deep cycle battery replaced with sealed lead acid battery designed for large UPS applications. It was purchased from Ebay.
* Most of the drive components that attach to the drive axle used roll pins for fastening, many of these pins have been replaced with larger diameter, grade 8 bolts.
* MOSFET motor speed controller was designed and built. Using Surplus MOSFET transistors, a pulse width modulation circuit board, I now can variably control the Honda starter motor speed. Pictures to come soon.

well since in electric MOTORS ( i dont know why people call engins motors. lol. ) creat instantanious torque, i bet it shoots off the line. but i bet that thing is geard to be really high, as so it would atleast be somewhat fast.
