Is it going into a honda? If so I'd just buy Honda MTF.

Got an extra year out of transmission that would grind into almost gear, so I say use if you need it.

too thin......my urine is thicker than the new MTF!

10w30 or 10w40 motor oil, never a bearing failure or synchro issue.

E-b0la 08-19-2007 11:07 AM

Re: GM syncro mesh

You think the new honda MTF is more aimed at the new honda manual gear boxes rather than our 10+ year old D and B seres stuff bone?

i'll be picking up the penzzoil today when i p/u up some plugs.

Re: GM syncro mesh

i hade a grind in 3'rd gear at anything above 4k rpms's. replaced my trans fluid with some honda MTF and the grind was gone. smoother shifting as well.

Slo_crx1 08-19-2007 01:13 PM

Re: GM syncro mesh

I'll have to give the pennzoil syncromesh a try...4th and 5th gear grind pretty good going in at any rpm above 4k also. 5th gear is getting to the point I have to double clutch it just to keep it from grinding. :P

Funny though, it doesn't grind at all when it's cold with normal 10w30 oil. :l

hands down best tranny oil for hondas. You need the friction modified stuff instead of the regular stuff though, the pennzoil stuff is non fm. I run syncromesh FM in my TL's 6sp

Correct. I wouldn't give you the satisfaction of answering.

It's not that I dislike you, in fact I have the utmost respect for you... it's just that I never want a man like you to associate me with satisfaction. You make Pee Wee Herman look stable, dude.

Let me ask you people one thing.......

Who has been making it almost a business of building trannys?

Who has yet to have a bearing in HIS or a CUSTOMERS tranny fail?

I'll let the facts speak for themselves :)

Too date I've only had one tranny come back and it was this weekend.

Shift rod into the tranny came loose.

Three ways it could have happened

1) I left the beveled lock washer off and it worked loose
2) I failed to fully tighten the bolt and it finally backed out
3) I did everything right and it came loose (right, JD's a ------- saint if you believe that!)

What Mista Bone uses. Everyone else in this thread put together has collectively owned half as many trans as he has built. They are n00bs by comparison.

Rebuild for a Y7 tranny cost more than a Y8 replacement tranny (sorry don't know trans codes).
