GM powered Rex
I look around in the Grassrootsmotorsport classified section cause they usually have some pretty cool stuff. Found this and thought it was pretty different

Re: GM powered Rex
I've heard quite a few times that quad-4 are shitty engines.
Interesting swap though |
Re: GM powered Rex
high outputs arn't shitty at all.. probably the best of the quads. pretty sure they hit like 700whp stock block and broke the land-speed record quite a few times
|
Re: GM powered Rex
that cars local to me, ive seen it driving around a few times. I always just thought it was a peice of ---- first gen....
aparently it is :P |
Re: GM powered Rex
the only part of the car I like is the cock thick strut bar of the 10$ ebay variety
|
Re: GM powered Rex
i think i've seen the car on ht
|
Re: GM powered Rex
cheaper than a bseries or hseries, I read on the site that it was a $2005 challenge car. Pretty cool for under $2005 invested
|
Re: GM powered Rex
needs a 4.3l v6

I saw that car before on Q4F; I always thought GM needed a lighter plant for the motor. And the L40 caused the Quad 4 bad name, along with the LD2 era 1995 |
Re: GM powered Rex
That guy lives in Dayton, saw it at an auto cross event a few months back, definately an interesting swap.
|
Re: GM powered Rex
Cheap for a complete swap and running at that too. Yeah he said he autocrossed it a couple of times or something but it's up for sale though. $2006 and that fine domestic powered rex is yours. It's mad jdm cause it has a mugen front swaybar also not to mention the 5 lugs. lol. I like the thrush sticker on the custom strutbar though.
|
Re: GM powered Rex
that front strut tower bar is the ultimate.
|
Re: GM powered Rex
Two statements: WHY?
and even if it runs great, that engine is the ugliest thing I've ever seen |
Re: GM powered Rex
Yes, because we worry so much about looks here at HMT...
|
Re: GM powered Rex
I hope that thing catches on fire >:(
|
Re: GM powered Rex
If it runs like hell, who give a ---- if it looks like ----, bitch?
|
Re: GM powered Rex
I bet it rips.A quad four + boost= seriously fast car :y
|
Re: GM powered Rex

just switch to a header when doing so, stock mani is a pain in the prostate. 22r's are excellent motors, but why the ---- do you want to ruin a car with a motor that is made for a truck, has 95hp at 4800, and won't reliably break 6k on the tach? they're made for trucks. end of story. unless you buy a comp cam in the 280 and up range, complete LCE head, 12.5:1 pistons, stroker crank, bore the fucker out 2mm, to make it a 2.7-2.8, what's the point of enjoying a carbureted motor? also, have fun with a $400 replacement ignition module... i'll tell you the secret tomorrow |
Re: GM powered Rex
No but on a serious note, the quad 4's put out decent hp numbers, but I heard that they tend to explode a lot, that they aren't reliable engines at all. I didn't doubt that information for obvious reasons. I owned a 93 beretta w/ the 3.1 v6 and someone would always talk about their beretta with the quad 4 that was soo fast until the engine rattled apart

that motor has 92hp stock the si motor in the 1st gen crx is an EW4. |
