getting 12v
Im an electrical moroni got a spare windshield washer reservoir from my wrecked hatch. i wanna make a intercooler sprayer and i got everything setup but the wiring for it is in a car with no rear jet. i need some idea as to where i can draw 12v from to run the motor?right now im thinkin the power to the cig lighter with a switch but no idea if it will work.

Re: getting 12v
just get one of those red switches or a button

Re: getting 12v
Any 12v source will work. Hook it to the cig lighter power, tap into the radio's power, tap into the ignition power, hell hook it up to the battery ;) What will you be spraying on your intercooler? Alcohol? Ice water? Just curious.

Re: getting 12v
I read this article on Overboost.com where they had a very thorough test of an intercooler spraying system. Water or alcohol, bottom line is they don't work for more than like a 1-2% drop in temperature. Totally worthless in my opinion. Unless you are spraying it with water with red food coloring in it, then that would look weird/cool.

You know the STi comes stock with an intercooler water sprayer. |
Re: getting 12v
i plan to use ice water at the track. making it just for the hell of it. ill probably tee of the cig lighter wire i figure its closer to put a switch to. I remember hondatuning doing a hmt style turbo setup with a water sprayer and then the sti came out with one. ive heard oldschool drag racers used something similar to this so i figure ill see if its worth a damn. ill probably buy a cheap lil temp gauge and see how usefull it is.

You know the STi comes stock with an intercooler water sprayer. I'd look into water injection before an intercooler sprayer, but since you already have the parts, why not? |

Re: getting 12v
so i dont have to get my lazy ass out the car
|
Re: getting 12v
if you wanna cool your intercooler before a run, use dry ice
Like i quoted before, in my opinion, that water spraying ---- is worthless. Dry ice sitting on your ic 100x better than water. Oh and you have a fmic, be creative think of a way to rig it. Or make a rig around your charge pipe to cradle the dry ice. |
Re: getting 12v
i've seen some ghetto CO2 sprayers using paintball tanks....that ---- is nice and cold
|
Re: getting 12v
yeah me and my friend are making one. yet to put it on a car yet. glad to know it works
|
Re: getting 12v
Just get your assistant to purge a CO2 fire extinguisher over the front of the car before the run.

Re: getting 12v
you cant have fluid dripping on to the track, better have a drain pan :-\
|
Re: getting 12v
