Gauge Mounting Dilema

Should I waste 30 bucks on a gauge pod to mount my gauges... or should I be ghetto and come up with cheaper way to do it...

Just look at my name.. and you tell me...

Well i found this really interesting way to mount my gauges.. after Eletrical tape and zip-ties failed...

You get 1 gauge... break those stupid fastening screws off the back of it.

Get 1 2.5in (dia) Hose clamp, Drill a small hole big enough for a screw to fit through...

Look for an area to mount your gauge...

Proceed to screw in hose clamp....

Once hose clamp is secured, place gauge in clamp and tighten...

and you have mounted a gauge securly, reliably, and cheaply, for less than a buck.

will post pic tommorow....

If you don't mind the wires showing like spaghetti and you don't care how it looks then do it the ghetto way. Some of those guage pods can be a bitch to install anyway. :P

if you have a crx, that cubby hole below your radio can be used. Take a sheet of alumanim or have ever you spell it nd cut it the size from the bottom of you radio to the bottom of the cubby hole then screw it on. You might have to cut the cubby out so the gauges will fit. To make it look cooler use hex head screws. You get about three gauges.

I just hate shoving all the wires to go through the A pillar. Its a pain putting the bitch back on because then all the wires wanna come out. >:(

Re:Gauge Mounting Dilema

yes, we need pics. I had an idea to mount some gauges where the visor is at, but you would have to get really small gauges.

Re:Gauge Mounting Dilema

I was thinking about fiberglassing my cover that goes over the guage cluster and making it look like "mickey mouse ears", but the texture of the cluster cover would be different than the dash then...

No one makes a inner cluster guage pod like the ones for 92-99 civics, its would cover are factory guages though..

Haha, just tape the damn things on. The hose clamp is a good idea! When I get home I'll try to remember to post my guages. They're in the clock/vent area.

you know what would be really cool, if that needle on the boost gauge was on the right side, instead of the left ;D

how did you make that?

Re:Gauge Mounting Dilema

Here's mine on an EG. I didn't want to cut anything on the dash or have it in the glove. I painted the bezel flat black as well as the back of the gauges. Very cheap and no permanent damage.

Re:Gauge Mounting Dilema

haha, yea I wish the needle was on the right side too, unfortunetly my gay hks manifold is preventing that. Anyways, I didn't make it. I picked it up from someone online. I shoulda bought a flat black spray can but I was too lazy and just painted it with what I have.
