1997 ford explorer comes in with a no heat problem, I check it out and tell my service writers the heater box needs to come completely out and be looked over, I get the go ahead so 2 hours later I had the a/c evvacuated, removed, dash out heater box out a dissasembled, boss walks over and was like holy ---- :o

That's what you have to do to get to the heater core in my Jeep. They call for like 7.5 hours to do it. :S

first time i did heatercore swap in my truck it took over 7 hours.. on/off
2nd time i did it on a different truck it took 45 minutes :P im about to change a thermostat on my monte carlo :( |

the reason it took me 7 hours is because i pulled out the old one.. and couldnt get the new one in :3 took a million different trys before i realized i had to bend the tube a bit to get the fucker in place :1 i didnt know that they had to be bent and when i did bent em i was in the "---- it" mood :1 :8 |

The heater core in my truck takes maybe 10 minutes to change, the one in the car the dash has to come out and a whole lot of other ---- :S

Not sure if you've ever heard of the "blend door" problem with 99+ Grand Cherokee's with dual zone climate controls, but it's a major problem with them and it takes about ~8 hours to fix if you want to "do it right". I cheated and ordered a kit off eGay and fixed it in about a half hour. :6
