Full synthetic vs. half syn

Not a big deal, I know but just a few things I've noticed about mob. 1 full syn oil vs half syn. I know mob. 1 full syn is like the best oil to use for turbocharged engines, but when I use it, I loose it. I'm not burning it, but it leaks out.. anywhere it can and when I stop and turn the car off, the turbo smokes. When I use half syn I haven't lost hardly a drop of oil at over 500 miles.

Dat's why you don't use synth in old motors...

maybe if i have some time to explain it all out to you guys I will give you the entire synopsis of synthetics, blends, difference in the "brewing" processes.

Yeah, new cars from the showroom roll off with 5w30, motorcycles use 5w30 but us in the real world use at least 10w30. So unless you live in the northest part of canada and your car never sees any hard driving - don't use 5w30.

I would recommend thicker oils for higher mile cars, especially now that it's summer. My truck never sees more then a thousand miles a year but I still do the season oil changes. 10w40 for winter, 20w50 for summer.

Really do what you want but my best advice is to step up to a lil bit thicker oil, make your own call on synthetics if I ever get back to this thread and explain the processes to ya'll.

I was using Mobil1 5/30 up to about 50000 miles and then switched to 10/30 on someone's advice for the same reasons you mentioned. I am about to install a turbo on my '00 Civic (D16) with about 70000 miles. What is the best weight and consistency for me? Full syn or blend? I am in sunny (and hot) SoCal.
