Fuel pump install is Easy!!!
 

Well I just want to tell some of the guys on here that putting in a new fuel pump is not very hard. It took me about 30 mins max to put my walbro in. So if you thought that maybe you wouldn't want to do it because of it being a gas tank, you can do it. It's easier than you think. Also I found a really good site AFTER (kinda dumb I know) I put it in. This probably would have saved me some time give or take.

Looks simple, but how the ---- do you get the back seat out? My friend said there were 3 bolts to take out or something? Anybody want to take some pictures of that? I got a 95 civic coupe and I have tried pulling it, pushing it, sliding it, reefing on it, being sneaky, etc... I am ------- retarded.

do you know if the fuel pump ---- is the same for 4th gen civics? what gen did you do it on?


on the 4th gen hatches with split rear seat there is a black clip on either side of the seats that I was able to pull out by hand, but pliers make it easier, then you slide the seat toward the side where you removed the clip and is comes out of the oposite side, then you pull it away from where the clip was and it comes out. I took out my friends one piece back seat at school since he left his doors unlocked and the clip was on the driver's side in his old school accord with flippy headlights.

mr. chilton says:

1. Remove the seat back mounting bolt from between the seat cushions
2. Lift the lower part of the seat at the front to release it from the clips and pull it from the vehicle
3. Remove the two side seat back mounting bolts, 1988-91 Civic Sedan, and pull the side seat backs up then out of the vehicle
4. tilt the seat back forward and remove the clips that retain the carpet to the rear of the seat back.
5. On sedan models, remove the four retaining bolts at the seat back hinges and remove the seat back.
6. On hatchback models, remove the rear seat pivot hinge clips and remove the seat backs one at a time.
7. Install the seat back components in reverse order. Tighten the seat back hinge bolts on sedan models to 7ft lbs (10 Nm). Install all of the plastic clips and make sure that they are completely seated.

Sorry guys, I should have mentioned that I have a del sol. Can't help you on the rear bench. CRX guys just have to remove some plastic ---- just like me.

do those thing raise your fuel pressure? i thought they were just capable of higher pressure and flow but i might be wrong.

so u dont drop the tank from the bottom of the car? I have a 89 shape CRX. A while ago someone told me you have to remove the tank and this is what stopped me getting an upgraded fuel pump. thanks

4g's have the pump at the back of the tank, you must drop the tank. 5th gen have it under rear seat. I saw a pic in my shop manual. The thing under the rear seat/cargo bench is the fuel level sending unit.

the fuel pump power line goes into the top of the tank there under the seat, so maybe that is the fuel pump. anybody actually do this on a 4g?

thats the level sending unit.. it needs wires too ;)
