they filed bankruptcy because the unions have been screwing them over for years and now they dont have the money to pay all the retirement and health benifits from the old workers. the unions screw gm over so bad. they have a set amount of units an employee can produce a day because thats what the union agrees to. if you get done in 3 hours with all of your work you go sit down or sleep or play cards until your shift is over. My boss was telling me about when he used to work there. he said he worked some press and his goal for the day was 2800 units and if he was under the goal no one said anything to him but if he went any over he got penalized by the union. the first day on the job not knowing exactly how everything works he said no one told him about how many units he was supposed to produce, well in that day he did over 11,000 in this 8 hours and ended up getting written up by the union for it sure back in the day unions realy helped but things can only be one sided for so long before it ends.

I though delphi just turned union recently, and thats why they went to ----. My old man would be retired right now If the union didn't drive his job out of the country. He worked for borg and beck, the clutch division of borg warner
