Re:fuck ACT clutches
I sell clutches all day every day for a living and I can tell you that that is a STOCK disk. ACT does this ---- alot. If you look at the little wing symbol on the damper it says DK in it. This stands for Daikin Clutch Corp. There are only two people who make clutches for hondas and for the majority of Asian cars. Fuji Carbon and Daikin Clutch. If you want a clutch that is designed for racing by the same people who make the origional and the company that sponsors the HART racing team and Toyotas team as well as nissan. Get an Exedy, check out thier websight and read up!! http://www.daikin-clutch.com/index.shtml

Re:fuck ACT clutches
exedy stock clutches suck too. i only have 15,000miles on my stock exedy clutch in my 96 civic(stock) and its already shot. cant even do a burnout anymore and i can feel it slipping more and more everyday.
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
act clutches have gotten worse there quality is not the same as before... theres too much competition so there using cheaper products

Re:fuck ACT clutches
I'm new to the board, so I don't know you well yet, but what's your setup?
In my beater 92 teg, I have basically the same clutch as you, and it has held really well for approximately 75,000 kms. It obviously doesn't grab like it used to, but will still knock the fillings out of your teeth if you shift right. The clutch kit has worked great for me. Wanna know a shitty clutch? Try Centerforce dual friction, never held since the beginning, and back then I only had like 99hp... |
Re:fuck ACT clutches
his shits boosted
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
hopefully you were using the XT pressure plate, because the Street Strip one really cant hold the power with the street disc. I'd highly recommend upgrading the pressure plate. Me and several of my friends have had great luck with the XT/SS setup.
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
I've got an exedy stage 3 6 puck ceramic and the rivets that hold the input shaft disk section to the clutch disk took a ----...all 8 of them snapped clean in half. And since its a manufacturer defect and nothing to do with misuse by me i had to send it back which is major downtime. Sad thing is...i wasn't even gettin' on it. So if u stand by exedy try to explain what happened with my "high performance" clutch |
Re:fuck ACT clutches
my little brother had a act 6 puck setup and the pedal pressure was soo ------- stiff i couldn't stand it. Ive been running the Clutch specialites clutch and everytime i drive my car i'm just amazed at how well its holding up and the pedal pressure is just a little more than stock.
some of my friends have had good luck with act too though... |
Re:fuck ACT clutches
i replaced it because i had another clutch laying around, d series so great right. but someone is coming to see the car today, hopefully he buys it or puts a downpayment on it, and i will get the car sold and buy my 300zx tt. for that car im looking into multi disk clutches, my friend has one on his supra and goddamn it grabs hard.
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
i just installed my exedy "stage 1" if that's what you call it... and it's very nice for daily driving. we'll see how it holds up... what happens if you slightly abuse it during the "400-700 mile break in period"? because after 300 miles some friends got cocky and i gave in to a couple of races. if i did any damage would it be long term? or would i have already noticed something?
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
well, i ran mine a bit hard after about 300 miles.. and this is the outcome...
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
clutchs need a hard break in after a good little bit, they probly did you good 8)
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
Does anyone have any experience with CAP clutches? (www.capclutch.com)
I ordered a 4 puck HPS series clutch kit from them a couple days ago, rated 278 ft-lbs. |
Re:fuck ACT clutches
CLUTCH SPECIALITIES all the way!!!!
4000 rpm launch on drag radials w/ 22 psi, boosting 10psi in my crx..... results: 2 broken lug studs on launch! no slippy slippy there boys! 6 puck sprung, and i recommend them 100%, 2k miles and still going! thanks mike!!!! mike |
Re:fuck ACT clutches
I've never "broke" a clutch in. The last clutch I broke in I pulled out of my driveway after the install and did a burnout, followed by some 2nd and 3rd gear chirps. That same clutch is still being used by a member on this board after about 5 years of ass kicking boosted abuse.
It was an Exedy BTW.... __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
Re:fuck ACT clutches
when i had my clutch replaced, I got me one of those daikins. Since it wasn't my daily driver, rather a once in a while car, I tore that thing up ever chance I had. Sold the car and the clutch still runs great, it's been like 3 years, and it's still holding up. 3 years, let's say 10k miles a year, 30k miles, and going strong.
|
Re:fuck ACT clutches
I currently have a Centerforce clutch, but I've totally destroyed it. If I floor it in first gear and step on the brakes at the same time, the clutch will just slip and the motor get to around 5000rpm at 15psi.

Re:fuck ACT clutches
Don't buy clutchmasters.
