Default Fricken Rego

Took my car in to get Registered today and they found 3 problems

a) Steering wheel was loose
b) Tint on the back window was too dark
c) The rubber on the clutch pedal was missing

Now Ive already fixed the steering wheel and im in the process of removing the tint [any hints? razoring sucks] but I didnt think they'd pull me up for the clutch pedal. They said it was dangerous as my foot might slip. What a load of crap! My entire wiring for my gauges, stereo and dash were hanging down through the passenger side footwell and the engine bays electrical work was done with speaker wire and masking tape and they care about the clutch pedal

Well, atleast they didnt find anything serious at all

Another years driving for me

That sucks.

In IL, you send them a check for 80 bucks and they send you a registration. Simple as that.

Hey TechX, where are you from? I'm going to register my car soon, and the tints are my only problem. If you find a way to have the tints removed without damaging the defroster, let me know...

Use steam to remove tint without killing the defrost lines. That and a plastic razor blade used for detail work on painted finished. You can use a clothing steamer if you have one or know someone that does.

Im from Australia [hence stupid rego *****]
Yeah, Im doing it right now. Ive just got a metal razor and it doesnt look like its hurting the defroster. Steam? that sounds like a cool idea. Except I dont have a steamer. I hope theres not an anti-tint spray coz Ill be angry

People use ammonia, but Im not putting that ---- in my car
And a hairdryer

DONT USE A METAL RAZOR!!! You'll scrape the metal defroster right off! Trust me dont do it! The layer of metal isnt that think you will risk not be able to use your defroster... Just do it carefully and slowly. I used some adhesive remover with a razor but just made sure NOT to touch the defrosting lines with the razor.
