Go to your State's Treasury Department's web site and go to Unclaimed Property and type in your last name first and first name last and it will tell you if they have any money for you!
It was on the news tonite (birmingham) so i tried it and Alabama has an expired state check from 2000 for me.

Yeah I've been trying to do this for a while. I had a bank account in the city i was born and I knew it was there but the mail went to my aunts house. They never gave me the mail saying that they were trying to find me so they gave it to the state...now i have to wait for it to show up on their system and its been like 4 months or more....

Dammit $160 bucks is a lot to a college student in need!
