You got 3 more years, why bother.

You can't get them for free, but it's around $10-15 at your DMV.

Re: Free Driving Records ???

Yeah, my problem is if that DWI is still on my record when I go to get financed for a car i'd have to get full coverage insurance.. and it would rape me. I drive and have driven my old chevy truck for quite a while now and it has 325,000 miles :o i'm gonna be due for something before 3 years is up and I dont want to have to pay cash for something old and unreliable.

any time you get a loan for a car you have to have full coverage

not really. I believe CA did away with that. Hear about it a few years ago, didn't care too much for what I was hearing because you SHOULD have full coverage if you buy a NEW car. Protect the investment.

Lemme guess, go to the DMV and ask for a record printout for insurance purposes, I believe those only date back 3 years. Which if that is the case you are still fucked cause it happened 2 years ago.

In about 3 more years :-* :-*, Yes we all make mistakes, but some people deserve it. Not saying you do, but I bet you at least think it twice before driving drunk again. Right? So the system works, well for some people.

There's no way around it, unless you get someone else to buy and sign for you, and then you pay the loan. Don't think anyone would do that really....My advice is to buy something realiable cash in the 4 to 5k range, rape it for 3 years and then buy something nicer. There's really no way around it. I just turned 25, the insurance on the WRX went from $1400 a year to $600. I love it. Of course I don't have any DUI's on my record ;)

im glad you paid. im also glad your still payin. im even more happier that you didnt take out some family or some innocent person because your stupid ass decided to go out and get drunk and then drive home. not really a mistake...more like stupidity to me. make a few mistakes...yeah, ive made a few. i can honestly say though that ive never drivin after a few beers. to much to loose.
-as im sure you can see.

on the other hand...dont do something even more stupid and get a car, put full coverage on it for the first few months, then reduce it to minimal coverage. then your really fucked cause the bank will put their own insurance on it. what do I know though. ???

I'm surprised you don't have to maintain SR-22 coverage because of your predicament.

So your saying you never go to a bar to drink? When you say you have too much to loose is it becuase of fear that you will crash and kill someone because you had 3 beers with dinner, or the fear of simply gettting pulled over and not passing a breathalizer?

The current DUI laws are complete bullshit and are just a way of pressing for prohibition: http://www.duigulag.com/

If I go anywhere where I know im going to drink more than 2 beers, I take a taxi. -or I have a DD. I go to my fair share of bars, I go out and drink, I can hold down my fair share...but yea, its simply not worth getting busted over. If you get in an accident, your fault or not, and you have alchol on your breath its going to be pretty hard to point the finger at someone else. Its just the way it is.

Laws are to strict or bullshit...theres alot in life thats bullshit. For you to say its bullshit IMO is bullshit. 3 beers to you or I might not be anything. 3 beers by the law means something. Its just the way it is.

If you have any credit at all...there are lots of low interest rate credit cards out there in which this would be a prime oppertunity to take advantage of. Hell, even if the IR is little higher than the car loan, it might still be worth the savings because your dumbass wont have to pay full coverage.

Re: Free Driving Records ???

exactly. I save like 400 a month from buying my car on a credit card. And my interest rate is lower than a normal auto loan. I think i have a 15 dollar finance charge per month on 3000 dollars with a minimum 98 dollar payment.

i second that. My car was put on a credit card. Main benefit MUCH MORE bargining space when they get ALL the money up front. I literally saved thousands more than financing since I paid on spot. Dealers I dealt with much rather deal with someone with the money than go through the hassle of financing them.

Plus you could use another credit card where you have a special apr offer on balance transfers and literally buy the car with minimum to no interest if done correctly. :y

depends on where you live for the cost, you have to go to the dmv to get them though. depending on your state law a dui can stay on your record from 5years to the rest of your life. i have had two and they are both still on there, its been ten years.

also i would check with different insurance companies, there are some out there that specialize in high risk insurance and can sometimes get you a better deal, the funny thing is that you pay more because your a high risk driver but if you are involved in an alcohol related crash they do not have to cover the damages, because its not an accident, its a crash.
