Well theres like 7" flipouts for 200-300 on ebay, but I dont know what it would take to hook it up to an NES, then get it to put out sound, then power up the NES

Worth it?

Then Id have to mount it somewhere

I want a lot less than that for my non-flipout 7" touchscreen, has both composite (TV) and VGA hookups, and you can run NESticle, zSNES, Project N64, etc, to your heart's content.

There are reasonably well-equipped thin clients being eBayed in the $60-80 range that have PCI slots for better video cards, run 800-1000 Mhz processor speeds. I'm surfing the web right now on an 866 Mhz P3 with 256 PC133, it streams movies and music flawlessly (which is what it's supposed to do, it's my poor man's PVR), would run any of the S/NES game emulators flawlessly, surf the web via USB wifi dongle, etc

I dont know much about these things or how to get them runing

I also seen some LCD picture frame type dealies on ebay for cheap, plays your pictures, some play movies and such and you just load a sc card into them to put your ---- on it

BUT, Id want it to play movies (****) that I had on my disc

They also may be a big wide for the area I want to fit it in

Difficult?

Can you burn an .iso file of Windows to a CD? Can you fit the CD into a computer? Can you walk your way through the install? Can you plug it into the car, and tuck everything where it needs to go out of the way?

Seriously, it'll take you longer figuring out how to tweak a Roadrunner skin the way you like it, or install NESticle, than it will to get one of the thin clients I'd point you toward up and running.

The only reason I mentioned the PCI slot for a decent vid card is that the cheap ones normally raster text on this 7" Innovatek in a place or two, since native reso is a bit wider than the commonly supported ones. No big deal for movies or mp3s, you'd never notice, but it makes surfing the web a bit annoying.

If you really do feel uncomfortable trying this, you should pass it up, but DUDE check out mp3car.com and see what some of those guys are doing. You get pretty plain jane installs like what I'm talking to some hardcore geekery that confuses me. It's a great site.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/dashpc/

+ xubuntu or some specially compiled linux kernel might take up less processes on the HD

https://www.timekiller.org/carpc/index.php

pretty nice install

THeres some digital picture frames on ebay for fairly cheap

Some are like a hundred bucks, dont know about the quality or sizing yet of them though. But being able to load a data card into the back, mount it, then look at all my pictures and videos I have loaded on there would be pretty cool
