found something out today????
well i got a used head for my car today and took it to the machine shop to get it built and it is missing the cam caps...and the guy said i can't use different cam caps (from the head on my car) just wondering if this is just something you "shouldn't" do or is it just can't do!!!
thanks in advanced

you can't do it. The cam caps are align bored w/ the cam journals in the head to be perfectly round. cam caps from Head A will only work with Head A, not with head B or C. You know? If you're really bent on using that head you could try to find somebody setup to align bore it w/ the new cam caps, but then the bore would pretty likely be oversized and you'd have to go through the trouble of welding and regrinding the cam/cams to accomodate.
:edit:
not to mention there are not too many people setup to align bore a honda head. tust me I've looked before.

well i was just wondering cuz my buddy bitchasscracker (who has built a few honda motors,p.s. this is for a dsm) but he said that it doesn't matter just like when the "say" you can't put a vtec head on a non-vtec block, or turbo a honda and ---- but that really sucks
what if i used the cams and camcaps would that work from the same head senice thems are for each other
