Why was he not eligible for the recall? I hope they didnt use the excuse that cause he modded the car mean the warranty is void. If thats what they told him tell him to get a lawyer. how does adding a turbo affect a known problem? Also even if thats not what they said get a lawyer anyways. Stupid Ford. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury is the only car maker that you hear have constant problems with spontaneous combustion.

Ford isnt too bad. Its not their fault they dont know how to build a car ;)

not every car is eligible for a recall..it depends on things like build dates..bad batches of a part on the line..someone might of been sleeping? if he would of came in my dealership..i would of been " Sweet this things turbo! and after every tech in the shop checked it out..i would of went ahead and did the recalls..they cant void a safety recall for that..now if he came in under warrany blowing gobs of smoke out the exhaust..and saying somethings wrong with my car? well.."id be like heres your price on a new zetec unit." only if what you put on there is directly related to the problem should they not honor it.. but like i said before..other companys have recalls/problems..they just dont advertise them...

the only ford i have ever liked is my dad's f250 super duty with the powerstroke motor. i know its a funny name, but that motor is totally bad ass. he has pulled 18,000 pounds with it! his is a 99 with 120,000 miles on it and the only problem he has had with it was when a 15 dollar sensor in the rear end went out. all in all i think those trucks are the only vehicles ford sorted out before they sold them. its the best tow vehicle in the world too. i towed my civic on a BIG ASS trailer, the one that he put 18,000 pounds on, from chicago to detroit, and got 19 miles per gallon, thats not too bad.

i work for a rental car company and the focus was the biggest p.o.s. for the first few years. they are starting to improve, but they have had a lot of recalls:
wheel seals
wheel falls off
p.o.s. ingnition lock cores
it does amaze me that a car this cheap has transponder keys...another big pain in the a##.

if it was ford australia or ford UK i would LOVE to own a ford.. but.. FORD USA is GARBAGE!!!

FORD winstars were made in Oakville Ontario
FORD/MERC crown vics, grand marquis, and new Maurader are being built in St.Thomas Ontario
FORD F150 plant is in Windsor

Oakville and Windsor plants have been closed because "Ford's should be built in america" kinda mentality, there were probably "other" reasons but WTF!

when the car caught on fire it was back to stock, he took out the turbo and everything, he went into winter mode saving his turbo for next season hitting 12s, onlything he did was relocate his battery in the engine bay, which shouldn't void the warrenty cause it was the factory battery cable

no one was injured thank god they had to jump out of the car while it was crawling at like 15 km/h

were pinto's ever up there? considering that if you bottomed out hard enough they would blow up? ;D just a thought ::)

Mazda had trouble out of the RX7's, I think it was coolant seals, thats probably why every RX7 has a motor swap.
