Quote your sources, i'm not convinced its such a straightforward balancing act. The truth is, no one really knows whats going to happen, its chaos theory in action. Predictions and climate change models are only as accurate as the hypothesese they are based on.
So why deliberately do something which makes the situation worse? its like curing obesity with the McDonalds diet. Its not rocket science to work out the period of change we have undergone is affecting the planet. Whether we have any control over whats about to happen, well, without trying, there is no way of knowing.

And there are theories that god created the world in 7 days, or the theories that say cigarettes are completely harmless without any link with cancer.
The question is not disproving the theories, but what evidence would be required to make you believe it? These changes are on such monumental scales, its not like you notice a night and day change. This will creep up on us.
Actually, despite any of our best efforts, China's C02 output is just about to eclipse even the US's energy consumption.
I'm going to buy a chunk of the arctic circle and wait until it thaws, then start drilling for oil.

politicians are being listened to, even though most of them have no knowledge or understanding of science, especially the science of climate and climate change. Hence, they are in no position to question a policy on climate change when it threatens the entire planet. Moreover, using fear and creating hysteria makes it very difficult to make calm rational decisions about issues needing attention.
