Default Flat screen vs DLP TV's

So right now I have a 32" LCD tv and a 42" Plasma. I'm selling both for 950. (They're not the nicest tv's)

I was going to invest the whole 950 back into a nice bigger LCD but then I realized I don't really want to spend all that on a tv and I would rather have a cheaper tv and some money for a new gun or something.

Long story short, besides being less pimp than flat screen tv's, how are DLP's? They're pretty cheap but I don't really know anything about them.

I think he means LCD/Plasma vs DLP. DLP isn't as vibrant colors and the bulbs cost a ---- ton. I got a 52'" DLP for my mom for her Bday for $450 when Jorsher worded at LG. Picked up a 50" Plasma for myself for $750. It also depends on the room size. LCD/Plasmas put out hella heat. My room get's hot as hell.

Think he means flat panel...

DLPs are good. The newer ones are better. Color/contrast is pretty good, much cheaper to get a 1080p one, and much cheaper to get a huge one.

Picture quality/pricewise i'd stick with DLP. The flat panels cost a bit more because they have the bling of being flat panels. Just make sure you can't notice the "rainbow effect" which is basically where some people can notice the color changes on DLPs...it's just a spinning color wheel with light being reflected through it...if it's not a 6-color wheel or spins slow (older dlps) you *might* notice it.

Also, remember DLP bulbs go out, and they have moving parts, so think about that when considering value.
