I work flat-rate with a 40 hour guarantee. That means I get paid at least 40 hours a week regardless if I lift a finger or not. If I turn 55 hours I get 55 plus an extra dollar an hour bonus. It kicks ***. Porsche for the win.

Sorry not trying to rub it in flat-rate guys.

I liked it when we actually had work coming in the door, I had a killer week going and then we got hit by an ice storm so instead of a 45 to 50hr week I got 30 hrs. Today we were stupid slow(still feeling effects from ice storm) and I may have gotten 4 hrs tops. Its great if your shop can stay busy and you don't have to deal with bs warranty claims all the time. I'm just sick of getting paid 4hrs by ford for a job that under customer pay would pay 8 plus hours. Ford pays 7 hrs to r+r a trans on an awd cvt trans in a five hundred or freestyle. Now if that was customer pay it'd be a 12 to 14 hour job. I know everyone at a dealership has to deal with warranty but its not for me anymore.

Flate rate is the ----. Dealership I work at is usually busy all the time. Plus we get bonuses either 1.00 or 2.00 an hour for entire month for 230 and 260 hours a month.

Warranty times do suck ***** for the most part. Some warranty work is easy money. 98-01 accord trans pay 5-6 hours, knock them out in an hour and there's always an odyessy trans to do. Plus all the other little bullshit you do them so many times ---- becomes routine and mundane.

It really puts government waste into perspective. My dad busts his *** when there's work available, but he talks about having to wait 1-2 weeks for a repair to be approved, and they just sit around most the time.

I think it's ironic that the government measures put in place to reduce money being wasted actually causes it.
