first post!!!!!right hand driver???
This is my first post but not my first time on HMT, I usually just read the stupid, funny and intresting ---- people have to say. Anyways -------- is my bro(nothing to brag about j/k Albert)and usually he has the anwsers to all of my car problems, but when it comes to cosmetic ---- he says "keep it stock looking" or "just primer it black, you could never go wrong with primer". I've mentioned to him that I was offered a 95 jdm right hand drive front clip for my eg6 for some ---- some guy owes me and was wondering if it legal to have a right hand diver in cali. and if it is how much trouble would I have to go through to register and instaling it. Any info or links relating to this please let me know asap thanks!!!

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
I never understood the RHD thing. To me it seems 100% pointless and just a huge pain in the ass. I live in America so I'm going to drive like an American and leave that RHD ---- to the JDM ricers

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
when I was in cali there was a rhd mr2 at the track racing, it passed tech inspection, but so did all the hmt cars, so I don't know about the legality. if anyone gives you ---- just tell them to go haress the mail carriers.

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
RDH would be kinda cool but too much work not worth it. although i would like a real sir or replica.

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
if your car was actually an EG6 it'd already be RHD. leave it alone, yes it is legal (as long as it is done well and refereed) but it isn't a good idea. cops LOVE to pull over RHD cars. My buddy has a JDM DC2R and BOTH times I've gone for a ride in it we got pulled over ::)

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
i was at some import show last year there was a guy with a turbo 95 hatch that was RHD. he bought a clip and swapped everything. said there was lots of work

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
it is rediculous, you need to swap the firewall (hardest part)

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
grind what ---- off? the pedal assembly, brake booster/MC, Clutch MC, throttle cable, steering column, wiring harness, Trunk release cable, hood release cable, gas door release, power window switches (if applicable) and ECU all need to change sides. Most of that stuff goes throuigh and/or is supported by, the firewall. GL doing it without the firewall swap. Oh yeah, and don't forget the steering rack, and tie rods need to be swapped out too. all so you can whistle at the bitches at the busstop from 4 feet closer. ::)

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
If the JDM y0! front clip is worth using just glue it together with "liquid nails" like the Ford Escort from "pimp my ride" :P
|
Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
buy a mail jeep and put a 350 in it, with a 9" rear end. it will be cheaper and legal. it will also be RHD.
or you could join the military, get stationed in japan where RHD is the only way to go. :P honestly though, why waste your time with a RHD car. go on honda-tech, spend $10,000 and buy someones RHD car they already fucked with. save yourself the headache. |

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
i`ve seen ur hatch, it`s nice enough that it doesn`t really deserve a RHD conversion.
what u should do is take the front clip, pull the engine tranny out (assuming it is the oen with a B16?)and sell the shell for a 100 bucks if anyone wants it. RHD is cool, but only cool to look at. same as if someone over Japan wants a LHD car, it jsut doesn`t make sense. your road are designed for LHD and so does the drive thru ;D |
Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
MOe is such a ricer its not even funny or sad anymore..try honda-tech moe :P

Re:first post!!!!!right hand driver???
plus shifting with your left hand required A LOT of effort since we all get use to LHD.
try sitting in your passanger sit. imgaine your are driving and taking turns, shift with your left hand while working with pedal, and u know how tough it is. :-\ |
