First night at the track(Updated 8-24)

First time taking the Cobalt to the track and first time ever actually running something at the track. Crested 1,800 miles on the way home so I still don't have much seat time with the car but here is how the night went.

1st run
1/8- 10.0790 at 71.89
1/4- 15.4720 at 92.76

2nd run
1/8- 10.1769 at 73.39
1/4- 15.5498 at 93.36

3rd run
Sprayed VHT a few cars before me, everyone for about 15 runs slowed. Weird
1/8- 11.0846 at 69.46
1/4- 16.6095 at 91.33

4th run
Jeff "Hotshoe'ing" for me, he really is a better driver
1/8- 10.0671 at 72.33
1/4- 15.4530 at 92.59

5th run
Coolant finally lowered temp to about 185, had been 210+ rest of the night
1/8- 9.8161 at 73.52
1/4- 15.1020 at 94.33

I'm still learning to drive the car, not much of a drag driver anyways obviously. Fun night out though!

what type of cobalt?

Ls?
SS?
Supercharged?

RedCavz 08-17-2006 10:55 PM

Re: First night at the track

its the ss supercharged. Traps should be about 1-2mph higher, but other than that you just need to learn on launching her it looks like. Those cars are not easy to launch at all. They wheelhop like a mother fucker, but there are tq braces all around that will cure that. Keeping it, or still selling?

I run similar times in my 1988 dodge shadow automatic, and .5 seconds quicker in the 1/8th. thats also with under $1800 including purchase price ;) how much do those cobalts cost?

Yeah, most places say 14.4 at 100 is where they should be. Guess I'm keeping it, couldn't find a true buyer. Just have to pick up the overtime until I get other things paid off.

Totally didn't see this comming. At the horse track here they have golden gloves boxing between races on Friday nights.

Didn't even read your thread. I saw it said cobalt and redcav posted so I am sure it is super joto. :8

Went to the track again, getting a little bit more of a feel for the car now.

1st run
1/8 - 10.0200 at 70.67
1/4 - 15.4901 at 92.22

2nd run
1/8 - 10.1893 at 72.33
1/4 - 15.5491 at 93.40

3rd run
dropped tire pressure down to 23psi and skipped water box
1/8 - 9.5601 at 74.12
1/4 - 14.8030 at 95.16

Yeah the car is still pretty slow but you know what, I dropped .75seconds from one run to the next tonight so I'm really happy about that. Pulley, injectors, intake, exhaust cutout, meth injection, and engine damper coming soon hopefully. Should make deep 13's.

Supposed to go 14.4 at 100 but I don't know how accurate that is, I've run in mid 80 to 90 degree heat right off the interstate both times now. So that may have something to do with it, again only 2100 miles on the engine. Still breaking it in.
