Who did the paint? Looks good, is that Milano red or another color?

Re: Finally some pics of my work in progress.

Yes it is Milano red, Maaco did the painting, I did all of the body work. It came out pretty good for a Maaco paintjob that cost $400 so I'm not complaining, its not like the car will ever see winter so it will have a hard time rusting again.

You did the right thing cutting out the rust.

What're the plans for it?

Well I did cut it out, just had no means of welding so I used fiberglass from the inside, then used long hair filer, gave it its shape, then used regular filler on the outside...car will never see winter so I give it 2 years before any signs of rust come out again. by then I'll either have a newer car or get the 1/4s cut completely out and new ones welded in.

The plans for now are to get the B16 finished and swaped in, along with a good suspension and some nice wheels. I just finished installing a manual steering rack in it, that saved about 40lbs. also planning for a CF hood and going to get rid of that black crap stuck to the floors under the carpet for more weight reduction. hoping to make this car weigh as much as the CX coupe which is 2200lbs vs. my 2400lb Si.

I should have some better pics tomorrow.

Re: Finally some pics of my work in progress.

fiberglass is iffy
i will have to attest to that one

Re: Finally some pics of my work in progress.

Its only a 6" by 3" spot in the upper corner of the 1/4 pannel, I did 3 layers of fiberglass and long hair filler to make the shape with a final thin layer of bondo. from the inside it just looks like metal was welded in, the rest is all metal.

------ nice looking. my car got all fucked up during my engine work, I'd like to get it resprayed, do you know the code of that paint you used?

Re: Finally some pics of my work in progress.

did you primered the whole car? just the spots that got repaired?
I am gonna paint my car for the first time using that cheap ebay glasurit paint that I posted up in the other thread. any tele tubby level prep tips for the inexperienced?

Xgenturbo 03-28-2006 12:51 PM

Re: Finally some pics of my work in progress.

Primered the whole car, its actually not neccesary if your sticking with the same color, but all my body pannels I bought were different colors so I sanded everything down and primered everything...its also easy to see if there is any imperfection while the primer is still wet, basically look to the light and at the surface of the pannel.

The paint code is R81 Milano Red.

Re: Finally some pics of my work in progress.

the car is staying the same color, but the is gonna be replaced with one thats painted white, so I will probable need to pimered the whole car to get everything looking the same shade
