Default finally home from school time to work on the beast

well i just got home from school. had to tow my car from indiana with my tahoe. wahoo. that was a long trip. well i got home last night. woke up this morning and my new super 60 turbo showed up and my new half radiotr did too. i started today on making that 92+ radiator fit in my car. i will try and do a right up when i get a chance. this one is an inch taller than the stock one so im gonna be doing some cutting. also i picked up my a6 from the junkyard. biggest piece of junk. thank god im gonna be rebiulding it. cause theres no way id slap that thing in my car the way it is now. the throttle boddy is stuck and the spark plug holes at major amounts of ---- in it. stupid junkyard had the hood off it and someone pulled the spark plug wires out of. well enough talking for me. ill keep you guys posted with how my car is coming along

Those transmissions are the biggest pieces of ----. Can't tell you how many I've pulled out of z71's. Pain in the ***! I run a 700r4 which is called the 4L60. I think anything after like 1990 used the 4L60E (electronic controlled 700r4). That transmission is absolutely useless for towing.

Chevy still hasn't gotten it right. First there was the TH-350 that was in all the light trucks/cars, that was superceeded by the 700r4 starting in '82 but if you got one of those transmissions, you're screwed. They really sucked back then. The 700r4 didn't start getting good (all the bug fixes) to 1987-88. Before then chevy would only have the 700r4 inside engines smaller then the 350 (they assumed the 350 was too strong for the transmission and just stuck with the TH350). The 700r4 was better then the TH350 from having the stump pulling low ratio first gear, slightly lower 2nd gear and overdrive.

I actually got a production vehicle with a '86 305 + 700r4, neither the motor or the transmission made it that long - then again my truck has been beaten up very very hard from moron drivers. Either run with a 4L80E or retrofit your car with a 700r4 if you plan to keep it. They do make the most badass transmission in the world called the Raptor 700r4 which costs like $2,500. It's insane, can tow anything you throw at it and can handle very high outputs of HP.
