Finally got my G.E.D!!!
 

I dropped out in 12th grade to chase ----- and make money.After 12 years of doing great in life without a high school diploma,I went and took my GED test 2 weeks ago.Well today I got the call that I passed it!I was kind of stressing couse I took it all at once and I was dead tired(mentally) by hour #5(8 hour test).This meens alot to me because now I'll be the only beaner in my family with a diploma.

I have'nt decided if I'm going to C.C or applying for a few killer jobs that I've found on line.All I know is that I'm going nuts at home :S :1

All ive found is. Awnsering phones for 9$, Working in a resturant for 8$, Working in a factory for 10$ and being layed off. :-\

Well I guess I should of mentiond that I have 13 years of construction experience as an Electrician.6 of those 12 years I was a Forman runing jobs rangeing from $400k to $1million and runing crews of up to 15 guys for the largest union shop in San Diego.So when I said killer jobs I meant "killer jobs" in my related field with my experience.Im looking into manageing large projects.Wether it be as a Field Superintendent for a small electrical shop or an assistant project manager for a large construction firm.

So pretty much with my construction back ground,manegerial experience,and now my GED I have a shot at getting a job in construction related fields making $40-$65k a year without putting on my tools. ;).Usually they ask for 5 years related experience with a diploma/GED,or a college degree.

Situations like that are proof that sometimes college isn't the right answer.

I mean, yeah definitely get the high school diploma or G.E.D. but seriously experience like that is worth a lot more to some employers than a piece of paper saying you're smart.

Not to downplay the positive aspects of college, just that some people do it their own way and are just as successful.

College is the right answer, unless you like working with your hands. I am a Service Tech. I like the work. Somedays I wish I had a desk job like my wife but I know it would bore me to death. Tradesmen are becoming higher paid by the day. Most kids don't want to work with their hands so good help is very hard to find.

Not around here it isint. Its extremely hard to get a well paying service job around here. And you pretty much have to be into the heavy drug use methed out social circles to work any kind of construction.

Yup.That is the truth.The union couldnt get enough aprentices back in San Diego so they started a high school recruiting program and they raised their starting salery.So we started getting kids straight from high school that didnt know a flat head screwdriver from a phillips.And none of them wanted to dig.It was ------- lame couse most of them were extreamly lazy and just there for the schooling because you can use your credits to get a electrical engineering degree after you become a journeyman. So they were just there for free school.

The trades are defenitly being lost.

haha, I got my GED too (Good Enough Diploma) ;) I only remember it being a couple hours though and they had questions like, "Whats the name of the white house where the president lives?" :S

Don't go to college Raffa. College ain't ---- compaired to having real hands on experience and knowing the right people. The faster you start working towards the "circle" of people that are going to get you ahead, the faster you get to where you're going.
College teaches you how to be a good employee, which was a good thing to learn at the beginning of the industrialization age. With pensions and all that goody goody retirement ---- going away, nows the time to stop looking for a job, and start looking for people who want to work for you.

I'm going to be a rich man without a diploma or a GED. :6 I'll rock the boat and be more successful than most without that ----. I'm already the highest paid electrician in the company and for the area I make well above average income. :6 Move to AZ Raffi. We need a good foreman that can handle stress and keep ---- straight. I'll start you off at $5/hour since you're a beaner. :8

ILL DO IT!! lol. yea, ---- college. its worth ---- if you dont even know how to cut a peice of wood or hook up a godamned battery to something.

all my friends are all ------- smart in school and ----, but cant even hook up an xbox! wtf. once they graduate, they will fail at life. thats guarandamteed.

no post secondary here, almost 50k/yr soon to be 60+ (getting promoted to Health and Safety Manager, man thats going to be stress).

i'm doing better then 9 out of 10 post secondary educated mofo's i know.

glad i didnt waste my money / start life in debt.

Ahh,young Justin.As you get older your body tells you to give up wearing 15-25 pounds around your waiste.Plus its not really about getting rich(at least to me).You cant get rich out of making some one else big money ;).I'm at the point where I just want to work my 40,have great benifits and a good retirement plan while not wearing my tools.No construction company that I know of,out of the union,will give you a pension plan or good benifits.IMO,thats the real ticket there.When every thing is in order is when your free to take boat out every weekend. :y

All me have iS uhh duhplomah aNd 8)(thats a picture of me cause I wear sunglasses all the time cause my future is so bright, I gotta wear shades) gots me a houze, 850 volvo turbo, 75 280Z and a sweet AE86 not to mention my wifes focus and taking trips to socal and staying at Julio's pad sleeping on a air mattress that is fully deflated when you wake up in the morning. All that with just a HS diploma and some AF experience and some college classes. Not to mention you can write incredibly long run-on sentences and it's okay. Damn life keep getting better and better everyday.
Julio I'm telling you move to the midwest cause you could actually buy a house and pay it off in a lifetime and have something nice without paying over 200k. Hell you can get a nice new house for under 200k.

Don't worry about learning to paint. I could always pimp you out to other companies and take an hourly cut, or just pay you to be my house boy. :8 But if you did move here, you'd be a certified white man in a matter of 2 years.

i used to have a desk job and hated it now i like what im doing working out side and climbing, working out of a bucket and stuff... its much better. Right now the journeyman lineman rate is like 35.40 or somthing an hour (go on storm or emergency and its DOUBLETIME over $70 an hour) its not for everyone somtimes youre busting your ass majorly or somtimes you have easy boring work, it depends.

You ------- -----. :P We just got rid of a guy like you that thought he was worth 10x what we were paying him and said he could retire anyday with a pension from the union and he could make so much more at a different company.....BUT WHY THE ---- WAS HE WORKING FOR US?!?!?! ::) He ended up pissing off my buddy on the job and almost got his ass kicked for talking like that. He called up about 10 minutes later and quit. :1 When a guy goes to pick up a bag of speed and snorts it right in front of you, you should know he's not going to work out. :3

Gotta know where to look and have teh leet skillz!!1! I got a service job where I make $12 an hour starting out, company car, company phone, company fuel card, all driving time is paid for, work more than a 12 hour day your dinner is free, etc, etc. The job I found is probably one in a million though, never have I worked for a company that understands as much as this one that if you treat your employees well they will work harder for you.

I dought he was like me.He sounds like he was a ------- tweaker,looser ass mother fucker.Besides,on the job I have allways let my work ethics and experience talk for me.I dont talk myself up on the job.Now on the other hand I know what I'm worth and what I can bring to the table....I might just have to come down there and work circles around you ;)
