FINALLY Fixed Hijacked Browser

Ok guys, have you ever had a hijacked browser? This is the deal, my internet explorer 6 would always come up with a homepage for some gay search page after you would restart. Ive been looking over the registry over and over again and went thru directories and found a bunch of files that looked questionable to me (random number/letter filenames, all the same size) so i deleted them and the search page went away, but now a new search page kept coming up. It wouldnt matter if you deleted the keys in the registry, itd still come up, wether you set it back to what you wanted or not. Anyway, i was looking through some other things, and there was a file that was part of the registry in the windows directory, and the date looked newer so i opened it, and sure enough all the registry keys for the internet explorers search pages (the hijacking ones) were right there... I had seen them before but, the file had somehow placed itself to run in the RUN folder in the directory under windows in the registry. It was named sys or somthing tricky like that... Hijacked browsers suck and the people that hijack them should be shot. Sorry this is long but Im happy i fixed it, ive had this problem like 3x, and 2 of the times i ended reloading the computer due to this and other problems with hijacked browsers etc... have any of you had these problems?

That ---- happened to me too. I was pissed beyond rational thinking. I felt so violated. That's bullshit. I use Spybot to help get rid of that ----. So far, so good. I hate those people with a passion. I don't get why they would do something so stupid because now I will never visit their stupid ass sites at all. Punk mother fuckers. >:(

Yea ive used ad aware and spybot and a few others and they found tons of stuff but could never prevent it from coming back on restart... Ive also found things in the C:\windows\system folder and C:\ and C:\windows directories. Virtually every problem file was an .exe extension or .reg for windows registry additions. The one i found was sys.reg. Also msdos.exe in the C:\ was a problem file, they make them try to look like windows system files so you dont delete them. We should find these companies creating this kinda ---- and sue em, create a class action lawsuit, this just cant be legal.

it takes a little skill to handle those situations. First i always do Control+alt+del and see what programs are running. i know what programs i have running so if i see anything out of the norm i do a file search and will delete the file. most of the time they are implanted in the windows\system folder. Also you should try to memorize the programs in your add/delete section...if anything unusual is there just delete it. you can tell its spyware asap if it just deletes and doesnt give you any long deletition process. Also i use adware to keep out the lil stuff. between those few ways ive been able to keep my computer pretty clean. this computer is from 96 and the HD has only been reformated once.

Seriously. I helped a friend w/ his computer because he had a virus. My parents get viruses on their computer. I never get any on mine, I don't have a single protection other then my common sense.

Stop downloading porn and you'll be fine ;) HAHA!

#1 thing to protect yourself. Don't open everything you see.

well it's no virus...

Re:FINALLY Fixed Hijacked Browser

Well its not a virus problem, its been with the internet scripts, so popups sometimes change your files after the script is executed. Only one of the random number/letter files were actually being ran by the computer(obvious), all the others were registry keys or other sneaky ----.
