Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

Ok well this is my second kit... learned from the first one as to what not to do wrong... and ill say it came out good... only running 5psi right now, untill the injectors get slapped on later tonight.. then I can really have some fun... over all it wasnt that difficult... very time consuming, and you have to turn into Mcguyver to figure some ---- out..

Heres a part list:
D16-T3 Manifold
Air Research T3 (.42/.48)
2.5in Flared Downpipe
2.5in Charge Pipes
Custom Coach Intercooler
1st Gen DSM BOV
VAFC
450cc. DSM's
Autometer Ultra_Lite Boost Gauge & A/F Gauge
Oil Lines and misc Bolts nuts and ----.

Ended up spending about 1300 on this.

heres some pics, sorry about the shitty quality of my cam... it really sucks.. its a webcam so its resolution is limited.

Wow!! Thats a nice setup. I like it. Let us know how it runs on higher boost after the injectors. I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but what is that on your hood? And I don't see any filter on the compressor housing :o. Watch out for those rocks.

Really nice setup man.
But HAHAHAHHA :D ;D Your car has a big lumb on it's head hahahahaah Or is it a Nose hole ;)
Just joking man..but that thing looks very funny

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

That lump... is a functional hood scoop...when i was running it N/A the intake filter sat right under there.. so it would suck up all that nice cold air....

It doesnt have a filter right now cause its a tight squeeze and i need to reroute my clutch line so a pipe can fit between the tranny and the radiator fan.

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

You can leave it like that, but I would clamp a piece of window screen or something over the compressor housing just in case.

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

Nice setup. But it would LOOK a lot better if you changed that hood scoop to a little more low-profile one. It just looks waay out of place sitting there. It reminds me of the scoops on older Indy cars that sat above the drivers head, kinda like a snorkel. But the turbo project is nice. Deserves a write up.

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

im gonna snag me some surgical cloth from school today(beeing how thats what intake filters use)... and sandwich it between 2 peices of wire mesh in order to create a makeshift filter element thingy then clamp that down and hope it works...

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

I think that setup is super clean. Did you paint that manifold? With?
"It's not a tumor" <----The hood (I had to ;))

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

damnn you stealthmode! I was reading the entire thread thinking its not a tumar and hoping no1 had said it. Then I read your post! DAMN YOU! lol

But ya.. i think its time to ditch that scoop :)

or you could route your ait filter there.

I also dont think that syrgical cloth will last too long there. i give it 10 mins before u have a fire.

very nice setup though. (I though u had a rex)?

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

The manifold isnt painted.... i polished the ---- out of it... but it turned some weird blueish, purple color????? and it just got dark....... the downpipe i did paint... with high temp aluminum. it turned a bit blue from the flange to the turbo... guess its just to much heat...

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

hey what kind of manifold is that?...its so purrty :P

MikeJ-2009 09-06-2003 07:33 PM

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

Is that downpipe flange hacked off and then welded???? I have a t-bird t3 that has the flange that can only point straight back into the motor and Im pretty sure thats what I see on yours, just checking, good job though.

traff1c 09-07-2003 06:26 PM

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

the turbo flange is 2.25in.... but my piping was 2.5 so i had to have a flange made... it stays close to the block clears the oil return... and runs back to the cat....

That gauge pod... is electric tape....

Nice car and setup.

One thing though, if you want to keep your car for awhile I suggest you cover up your license plate up.

Re:Finally Done With Project (56k beware)

uuuummm ttttuuurrrbbbbooooo. tasty. nice. wasn't it jeff, or maybe beau, that ran with some "screen" over the inlet... with aaaahhhhh not so good result? The best mod of all is the rancid sticka. It brings a quality splash of color even martha stuart would like. how difficult is the vafc hack? I'm finishin the mini setup, but still gathering parts for the turbo, I was gonna go zdyne, but a severe cut in pay from 600/wk to 600/2wk is changeing my plans. I like the portable vagina on your hood, it eliminates the need to bend to the exhaust pipe. ;D
