Filing a Patent

Has anyone ever done this, or know anyone that has? Ive been looking into it and it seems there is lots of madness involved, and that its expesive.

o, and once i get some protection on my idea, ill let u all know what it is. Its gotta do with nuts tho, the kind you eat.

Re:Filing a Patent

There's some local engineering type firms that seem to do patent drawings... I think it's like $100 or so.

My father-in-law patented some kind of nuclear water filter thing-a-ma-doo-knobber and I thought they said it cost something ridiculous, like $4,000 or so. He got a lawyer to "partner" with him, do the legal work and pay the patent fee and if things got off the gound, he got a small percentage of the profits. :-X

I looked into it but I never did it.Its $2k for a patent search(to see if there are any other products like yours) and I think it was like $4k for the patent.Or at least thats what it was back in 2000.

Don't know the costs, but once you have a patent and your idea is worth something prepare to spend lots on lawsuits protecting your idea.

An uncle of mine invented, back in the 80's, some sort of electronic control system that calculates the amount of food a cow needs and gets for optimal milk production. He started producing it but other companies replicated the system. So he started lawsuits against them but he eventually grew tired of continuously having to go to court and sold the patent.

So, just pm me your idea and I will tell you if it is worth the hassle ;D

haha. i wouldnt mind selling the patent if my idea worked out. i wanted to try and team up, or sell it to, a big nut growing company. Form a strategic alliance and all that good stuff
