no actually it shifts fine. I thought the same thing when I finished it, but I took it out tonight for a test run and I was shifting as fast as I could and it didn't even hit the sloted bars! I was on cloud 9 all the way! It works a lot better than I thought. I was initally only going to use it for shows, but hey, if it works, I'm leaving it in
