Gotta love how the 8-parenthese automaticalls turns into the cool smiley on this board, because everyone here knows how cool looking for a 9/16" box end wrench is.

Personally I think it's cooler to just grab your adjustable wrench and save yourself a minute, as #9 states 8).

For sure, that is the way to go. There is no reason to bring specialized tools into the picture unless absolutely necessary.

I've done the screwdriver deal a few times, ---- a filter wrench.

Some times I impress women by looking for the 9/16th's 8). Sometimes you need to go alittle more hardcore and pretend you're european and look for the 15mm :6.

I made a few changes......
Oil Change instructions for Women :

1) Pull up to Jiffy Lube when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil change.
2) Drink a cup of coffee.
3) Grease monkey tries to talk her into replacing brand new air filter and performing other services that he insist need to be done, all while he stares at her tits.
4) Calls boyfriend/ husband/ dad to ask if those things really need to be done.
4) 15 minutes later, she has to tell the receptionist to remove the charges for all additional services because they were declined. (they always try to sneak them on the bill)
5) Pays for services (no one uses checks anymore) and walks out with a half ass serviced car.
6) Re-adjust seat, mirrors, and radio station.
7) Drives off

Money spent:
Oil Change $20.00
Coffee $1.00
Total $21.00

I HATE Jiffy lube. When I was 16 and didn't even know what an oil filter was, the grease monkey told me that they couldn't reach the oil filter on my car, so they didn't replace it and that they gave me a $5 discount. After being told that I got ripped off, that is when I learned to change my own oil. :-\

fixed. Nothings SAE anymore. (off the top of my head, 13mm-chrysler, 14mm-nissan/toyota, 15mm-GM, 17mm honda, 19mm-VAG)

My civic will be getting LOF's done at the honda dealer. LOF is important, not oil change, because after my modification to the ES kit there are sommething like 22 grease points on my suspension.

where does jiffy lube do oil changes for $20. i take my moms car there(because she doesn't trust me to change her oil. brakes yes. oil no.) and they charge $45

Re: female vs male oil changes

Walmart Lube express $15.95
Synthetic change $30.00

I would spend more time and money doing it myself, so usually just go to walmart, drop the car off, check out some toys, eat something, checkout the movies, and the car is done.

Re: female vs male oil changes

around here they advertise $19.99 er something. Probably ends up about $25 after tax & waste disposal. You can usually get it done for that much at the dealer.

your mom trusts her cars only means of stopping to you but wont trust a simple oil change in your hands? lol

back in oregon they'd always advertise a 19.99 oil change, i just do it myself, i like knowing it was done right with products i trust

Re: female vs male oil changes

^ the trick is to get a hugh pan from the start, which I need. I have this crappy ass small drain pan that gets the job done, but sucks ass.

o yeah, a women will probably let it go till 4k-5k.
---- all jiffy lubes, etc. . You can buy syn oil and "performance filter" for that price. If you get deal, like it's 10-20 bux there using some cheap/shitty ass oil and filter. I don't trust those fuckers either.

Whitey said women loosen drain plugs by hitting it with their purse.

Re: female vs male oil changes

I never take any of my cars to oil changing places. First off all of them around here use shitty Penzoil filters and oil, and second they do a shitty job of replacing them. My brother took his truck there one time and when he decided to do it himself the next time he needed a huge breaker bar to get the drain plug out and had to ruin the filter just to get it off...only after struggling with it for 20 mins.

I've also had friends go in for tranny fluid changes and then the place tells them that they can't change the fluid since the plug is rounded off...wonder how that happened.

I always change mine with mobil 1 synthetic and a name brand filter like STP for a little bit more peace of mind and so that I don't have to worry about it if I go a few miles over before I change it again.

Re: female vs male oil changes

Honda S2K or HAMP filter - 6.75 - 7.00
5 qt jug of Mobil 1- around $18 at walmart
Knowing that the car isn't overfilled/undefilled, spilled with oil everywhere, trying to take some money for filters/bullshit work - Priceless

You should hang out around the garage area instead. I've never overheard more people complaining about how a place fucked their car up/ couldn't fix it anywhere else but walmart. I swear there's always someone standing around ready to go postal while some guy that doesn't give a ---- trys to tell him 'don't worry there's no charge'

Re: female vs male oil changes

we had to do a motor swap on a 97 jetta at work, because of a walmart oil change. The oil filter seal off the old filter was still on the block when they put the new filter on, so it all leaked out like 20 minutes after. the #4 rod bearing was paper thin and the crank journal was all discolored. but walmart actually cut a check for $3000.
