If you can afford the entry price, and upgrade the valvetrain before it pwns itself, they are robust and make good power. A reliable 400 is do-able with a stock long block plus retainers/keepers.
The ---- in the *** for K-series is the transmisssion, but since an Atom weighs less than one wheel on a Corvette you could replace the transmission with paper mache and still have 100K reliability.
There, now you can go around and pretend you know something about imports. HTH.
