2 strokes require new top ends more often then kain jerks off. riding a MOTORCROSS bike like a MOTORCROSS bike gets alittle borring after awhile, unless you race it, or there is a track around your house. Even then, taking your 2 stroke through the trails sucks.

a 2 stroke top end is a peice of metal with a hole in it for the spark plug. if they break anything they usualy just crack/scar pistons.

you obviously know nothing about dirt bikes.... don't bother replying anymore about this subject.

2 STROKE
Pros Cons
Lighter More Pollution
Accelerate Fast, In some Cases More Top End Smoke
Purchase Price Less Expensive Must Mix Gas with Oil (Non Oil Injection Models)
Easier to Repair Rougher Idle than 4 strokes
Have Been Around For Almost 80 Years Noisier than Four Stroke Motor
Very Strong Used Market Harder to Start (in some cases)
Parts Availability Carburetors gum up if not used often
High Resale Value, High Demand Spark Plug Fouling
Simple Design Meaning Less Things To Go Wrong Will be banned in 2005 so parts may become harder to find after that.

4 STROKE
Pros Percived Cons
Quiet Heavy - Not anymore
Smooth Was More Expensive to Repair
Great Turing Motors Not As Many Trained Mechanics - Growing Daily
No Oil/Gas Mixture More Expensive - Not in the long run.
Idle Smooth Slower Top End is a thing of the past
Less Pollution Very Limited Used Market (Although Growing Rapidly)
Not Banned ANYWHERE More Parts to Malfunction (Technology Improving)
Future Production will Be all 4-Stroke Not as Powerful as 2-Stroke In Same CC class
Very Reliable

ugh, the new 4 strokes are more violent, louder, not as smooth and generally sick...

u must ride a xr100...hahah

the pros of a 2 stroke are, basically, none compared to the latest 4 strokes, except for the fact that maybe they are a little lighter and easier to handle.

actually the four strokes are lighter:

crf250r 204 lbs

cr250r 213 lbs

yz250f 206 lbs

yz250r 211 lbs

the only real problem ive heard from buddies of mine that race is that the four strokes frontends want to come up when you get into a burm. but the the nice part about four strokes TORQUE.

lol, thats the most rediculous thing I've ever read. 2-strokes will never be "banned" what do you think we're going to have third reich style burnings of everyone's weedwackers, leafblowers, ATV's and dirtbikes? :-\

you have never ridden a 250 2 stroke then have you... wanna talk about not beiong able to keep the front end down??

the four strokes this year have become lighter than the 2 strokes, because they are getting all the revisions and weight reductions , while the 2 strokes are getting, bold new graphics.

the hype these days are 4 stroke machines, and they have to double the displacement to come up with the same if not slightly nore hp.

ill take my 250cc 2 stroke all day. nothing feels as good as a nice fat 2 stroke powerband.

you weigh the 250f's against the 2stroke 125s.. same with the 450/250 .. 250f and 250 two stroke are not in the same class .. dur.

For everyone that is making some stupid comment about what I PASTED from another site you can take your ---- elsewhere. I don't give a damn about the differences between the two. I'll stick with streetbikes and a new quad will be joining pretty soon.

ive ridden plenty of two strokes and i never said you cant keep the front end down on them, but when your in aburm your usally out of the powerband where on a four stroke the power is there.

what are you talking about i was responding to hotrex saying the 2 strokes were lighter. of course the 125 is gonna be ligter than the 250 and the 450 is gonna be heavier than the 250 theres a lot of diference in displacement.
