Father & Son build begins

First off I know you all like pictures but they will have to wait, besides you know what parts look like.

For the last year we have been gathering parts for this build and finally decided to sleeve the block (b16a3) and got 1 hell of a deal through what might be our sponcer in the future. Anyways he told GE what we are doing and we wanted the gorilla sleeves, good for up to 1000hp. Well I got the block back last night and told my son they put in the wrong ones ---- so I get on the phone and call the shop to bitch and he new why I was calling. To make it short our future sponcer and GE decided to upgrade to the new HD series 60psi, 1300hp at no extra charge!! Can you say bullit proof. We were only looking to run 30psi on this project. anyway here's a small list of parts

the block
edelbrock victor x
eagle rods with cp pistons
skunk stage2 cams w/ spr. & titam retainers
D & h 75-69 TB
pte 1000cc injectors
Turbo is still undecided--sc61 or gt35-40
3" piping
s4c ITR LSD
etd traction bar
moroso oil pan
comp. clutch stg4
and a few other things, al this will run under hondata s300 w/ 2 step

Hopefully we should have it up and running within the next 2 months if there are no setbacks. But I will have PICS of the parts and build and also a write up when all done

lmk what you think Mark
ps this is going into a 89 HB

All sounds good but this "skunk stage2 cams w/ spr. & titam retainers," I would say go with anything but skunk 2.

Re: Father & Son build begins

we had a b20/vtec fully built all motor with itbs and the skunk2 stage 2 cams actually made more power then buddy club stage 3 cams...i think the skunk2 cams are pretty damn good lol

Re: Father & Son build begins

are you sure they werent buddyclub spec 3s? the spec 3 is verysimilar to the itr/skunk stg1 profile and not really comparable to the skunk stg.2s

Re: Father & Son build begins

well he bought bought the skunk2's and ran them...then got the buddy club stage 3's...brand new...paid like a grand for them or something....put them in a went for a tune and made less then the skunk2's...

Re: Father & Son build begins

buddy club is confusing with them naming there starting mild camshaft the spec 3 the spec 4 is what your friend should have bought to be even a close comparison to the skunk2 stg2s. (gotta love skunks site for posting them vs. the buddyclub cams and only showing the upper rpms of the dyno well theres too much variablility anyways)

I rather go with bisimoto, its more of a all motor cam but you can call up and talk to the man himself. Here's a link http://www.bisimoto.com/wst_page17.html . Why not skunk 2, because a friend of mine had one brake while it was idling :S. Also skunk 2 would not back up the cam they said it had to have been his fault, he is a old timer that his been working on cars since the early 60's. I found this on another site, don't know how true it is but hell it just makes you think.

"Hell, S2 cams are not even made in the US... China baby. By a company most people frown on.... So how is that. If you all knew where the S2 stuff was made you would laugh.... Thats why the S2 and the OBX intake Manifold look identical... Cause they are you Morons.. Made in the same factory.. "

exactly

95% of all mass-produced after market import ---- is made in china. the products that fail are the ones that were designed over there too. you can send any part over there that you want made, whatever you design is what you get. you can tell them to use cheap materials or good stuff. and no matter what anyone says china has its hands in every part import or domestic that is made, whether it is a complete unit or a component you add into your part/system.

speaking of skank manifolds, they are making 10-12 times what they pay for those things to be made in china. once you pay for the initial casting design you pay for material by weight and a small processing fee for casting. and the average manufacturing laborer makes .29/hr so the fee isnt ----.

china makes money on the material because it comes from US scrap yards, since we have no major processing plants anymore we have no choice but to off load our expanding junk piles onto china at an extremely discounted rate.

ITR LSD will not be strong enough. OBX or Quaife are what you should be looking at.

Also, the reason they changed sleeves is because they no longer do Godzilla sleeves and now only offer the HD sleeves for the same cost. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1983481
