what exactly does a "jdm" put out over a usdm engine.... to go through the trouble to source a jdm engine you would think you would go with a larger or better engine. not tearing you apart man, just asking what the story about that is

From what I've heard they use weaker components in the jap-land motors too, not sure if anyone could confirm that it would be great.

d15b are cheap as ----! guy in orlando sells them copmplete for 450 longblock

Re: Fast-Turbo VS Tuner Toys

JDM is better NA normally because in most of their engines they use a little higher compression so they usually get about 10hp extra. If your going turbo usdm is probably better because little less comp especially if you are just going to rebuild it anyway.

Re: Fast-Turbo VS Tuner Toys

I have a vx hatch that was all stock last oct. d15z1 and long as trans. I blew a hole in the back side of the block and pulled that out and did the d15b motor and trans swap since i got it for under 900 shipped to my door. And i wanted a single cam and i knew that this way i didnt have to worry about a bunch of ---- being wrong with it if i were to buy a z6 or something from some random person.

and I didnt want to have a DOHC like most everyone else in this world. I like lil SOHC d's cuz if i blow it up its cheap to replace.

so yeah....from what i know about it is that the head is same as z6 head and the block is like a d15z1(i know its what i blew up). So yeah

thats my story and now im doing a 14b setup on it and just plan on doing 5-8 psi for now then save money and get rods, pistons and maybe sleeved

even just how it sits: p28 chipped ecu, stage 2 clutch and 8lbs flywheel it pulls pretty damn good IMO. I was side by side my buddies crx hf with a JDM b16 swap until 90-100mph range

JDM D15B uses 1.6 connecting rods, basically making the 1.5 just as strong as a 1.6

as for the oil lines, i like the Fast-Turbo return lines with the aluminum fittings

Re: Fast-Turbo VS Tuner Toys

I've used both and they are very similar products. TT's block fittings are superior and the customer support from TT blows stans ass away. :6

Ahh, but there's the difference...the stroke on a d15b is the same as a b16...134mm baby ;) Wonder if it's possible to swap a b16 rod kind of like the LS rod swap on a d-series...hmm. :4

I know a place where you an get an oil line kit for about $40 canadian :6

EDIT: Its braided as well, comes with an adapter for the block, a T with adapter for braided line and a hole for stock pressure sensor or for guage. and about 4 feet of braided line but you could get longer depending on the application.

Not weaker, but the JDM engines undergo less quality control checks and have a higher rate of failure because of it. It's common knowledge in JDM-land that both Honduh and Toyota make cars for the US, and they get the second rate stuff.

Second rate on a damn fine product is still pretty good, but people who ASSume JDM is better are tards.
