FAILED SMOG!!!! PLZ HELP!!!
 

THE CAR IS A 90 HONDA CIVIC SI HATCH. THE MOTOR IS A SINGLE CAM NON VTEC HEAD
WITH THE ZC BLOCK..AND IAM USING THE D16A6 INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE
REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE I BLEW THE STOCK A6 MOTOR, AND I NEEDED TO GET BACK
ON THE ROAD QUIK. THE MOTOR HAS NO MODS DONE TO IT AT ALL!

NOW I ONLY FAILED THE NO (PPM) TEST..HERE ARE THE NUMBERS NO (PPM)

OHH AND THE IGNITION TIMING WAS AT 23 BTDC, HE SAID IT SHOULD BE AT 18....

GROSS POLLUTER = you are FUCKED! Have fun at the test only site every two years going forward. Same ---- happened to me when I first got my rex and now 8 years later, I still have to go to test only sites. But I learned to keep a clean 1.5 and CAT for smog time! My suggestion, get a 92-95 1.5 (CHEAP), good CAT, make sure you have no blinks, run 93 octane with taht smog addative and you will pass. Other than that all I can say is, sucks to be you.

do u guys no what NO (PPM) is? is it possible to adjust the dist. so i can get to
about 18, or is that to much of a jump?

nitrogen oxides, parts per million. adjust your timing back. get new plugs. get a new cat if you have to . or run 2 cats. or move.

when i adjust the timming back do i have to put a jumper wire for the ecu. I bought a new cat about a year ago....but i hear
it rattle a bit some times. Are there any other thimgs i should try to do before trying the test again? Does the anti-freez in the
radiator have anything to do with it.....a friend told me it did?

thats what i did, new plugs, new thick oil to help reduce blowby, fixed the timing by movin the dizzy, and put 2 cats on, and i passed it like a charm with a cx engine with like 220k

easy, just ask around and cough up an extra $50 to $80 and get it passed as easy as that.

after spending about $250 bucks i finaly passed smog!!!! ;D ;D ;D i tried three fukn times and failed!
my numbers on the emissions were 19 and 9 for the NO (ppm) the nox or some ----.

i had to change my cat and put a new o2 sensor, i also put the timming back to 14....the guy let me pass
with it that far back. i just thaught i would let u guys know....
