Extra battery = More power?
 

Would hooking up a second battery Give you more reliable power. Sticking the second battery in the trunk and wiring it parallel (not series) to the other battery. So you still get the 12 volts but maybe it would give a better spark? Because I know every little thing that sucks up battery juice counts when you're talking performance (lights, stereo, etc.)

Prolly not. Car runs off your alternator not really the battery so much. If you want more spark get a msd ignition for the same price as a new battery. Plus it weighs less.

Extra batteries are great for boats and car audio crazed people. I've ran two batteries before, then again I was running 2,500+ watts of stereo and one battery just couldn't run the car and the boom.

But two batteries will only strain your alternator more, I would advise with going with a higher output alternator and a more dynamic celled battery like the Optimas or Orbitals. I threw an Orbital battery in my brother's ride ('97 gst)from Napa, seems to be working out pretty good.

One other alternative for random power consumption would be installing a multi farad capacitor that will store energy when not on full draw, then discharge it when that extra boost is needed.

If you do decide to go with another battery, use a solnoid style switch (more or less a relay) for charging it from the alternator.. never go with an isolator (seen them blow up before).

Yea, quadnie said it, Optima, higher output alternator or get rid of all the "extra" electrical accesories, Try an earth ground system if u have the time and do some research, You have better spark through that

Everybody has an optima red top, go get you a orbital instead, it's pretty much the same thing but the name just sounds so much better

using more than one battery is generally a bad idea unless you have the alternator to back it up. I ran 1250wrms on a stock battery and a 140amp rewound alt and it did pretty good. If youre gonna run 2 batts you need a bigger alt and either 2 of the same batteries or a battery isolator, because the batteries can discharge eachother if the right conditions arent met. Usually another reason for not having 2 batts is that once the car is started, they become a resistive load
