Extra $$ on the side
Alright guys, I'm in college and I'm broke like every other college student pretty much. Theres two months of school left for me, which isn't really enough to find a job because I doubt they'd hire someone who's going to quit in a few months to go back home for summer.
So what I'm asking is you guys have any ideas to make a few bucks on the side with out a job? No I'm not going to sell drugs, lol. |

Re: Extra $$ on the side
Go around to places you think you'd like to work that are looking for people. Lie and say you will be staying in the area for summer. Then when summer comes along say, "sorry, I have to go home" and that will be that.

Re: Extra $$ on the side
search the local craigslist for broken down cars and turn them.
I made an extra $7,000 profit last year fixing whatever Honda I could find for a good deal in my spare time. And easy fixes too, like SOHC head gaskets and light front damage. Just need a few hundred bucks to start...ask your parents for it if you don't have it. |

Re: Extra $$ on the side
Go to a small shop and see if you can work by the day. If they need you they call you. My buddy does this makes like $120 a day, but some days theres no work and no pay.

Re: Extra $$ on the side
temp agency man. Pay sucks but there you go work saturdays doing grunt labor. Make 70 bucks+ for the day. Its what I did right after high school. Was making like 9 bucks an hour this was back in the 90's just cleaning up construction sites

Re: Extra $$ on the side
I too flip cars, its good money for the work but in you're situation it obiously wouldnt work. I agree with Towdogg, find a shop that needs a hand here and there, I worked for a metal fabricator for some nights/weekends and made real good cash, when the work went away, I stopped getting called but big deal.

Re: Extra $$ on the side
I third it, Pickup cheap Honda's that need minor work: headgaskets, need paint, body panels etc. Fastest and best way to make money. That's all I do, quit my job in JAN and just been doing that since. Till something comes along that I enjoy doing of course.

Re: Extra $$ on the side
I work construction, and our electrician gives me all of his scrap wire.. I strip it and it pays 2.80 cents/lb here and its rising. I've got about 150lbs I've stripped in the garage stripped and ready, and about another 100 lbs waiting to be stripped. It takes a while to strip w/ a knife, but I just sit on the couch and watch t.v strip it. Last time I took about 60 lbs to the recyclers, and a guy pulled in w/ a trailer FULL of clean copper, and got 10,000.00 cash on the spot. He must've set up a meeting w/ the owner, and had him have the cash ready. But if you know the right people scrap copper, or even alluminum pays decent.
