Experience with SSauto

I ordered a 38mm wastegate with a 6 psi (small red) spring.

Got the wg, came with a 13-14 psi (large red) spring.

Here are the emails I had with the seller to correct the situation.

After I initially received the wg, I sent a message about the hardware that was included (missing a couple bolts) and received no response. No biggie, I just was curious but I went to the local hardware store to get them.

Me:

The wastegate spring that I ordered was supposed to be a small red spring, 6 psi. You sent me a large red spring which runs at about 14-15 psi. Could you please send me a replacement 6 psi small red spring?
SS:

What order, what spring?? All i see is payment for the WG!! Where did you order, where, how, when did you pay?? send details please
M:

I bought a 38mm wastegate from you off of eBay, item #8054139455. It was supposed to be a wastegate with a 6 psi spring but it came with a 14 psi spring. If you'd like I will return the spring that it came with but I really need a 6 psi spring because my motor isn't built to handle 14 psi.
S:

yeah send it back 817 beaver dam rd creedmoor nc 27522 in the box put a note with your item #, email and address and phone and let them know why your exchaning it....thanks and sorry
M:

I can't just send it back, I need the wastegate installed in order for my car to run. I would appreciate if you would send me a replacement spring first, since this was no fault of mine. I'll send the 14 psi spring back as soon as I receive the new one. My car is not driveable without a wastegate.
S:

Sorry we cant do that, an exchange means you send back what you received for exchange. We cant just send a part for free the manufacturer wouldnt do it anyway...what I can do is a call tag as it was our mistake so you dont have to pay shipping, but no business in this world would make an exchange without having the incorrect part back first and we are no exception. Surely you know that...you dont walk into Sears and say you have a shirt at home you have to exchange but right now its on your kid, but if they give you a new one you will go home and change them out and bring the wrong one back...you understand??
M:

Actually it is not uncommon for a business with good customer service to do what I have requested as I have dealt with a few before that did not have a problem shipping out a replacement immediately. It looks like I have no choice in this matter though. How do you set up a call tag so I don't have to pay shipping? Could I just send you the spring to replace or do you need the whole wastegate?
S:

I tell you what -send an email to service@ssautochrome.com with the title 'WRONG SPRING' include your item # and the problem...since it IS just a spring they may just send a replacement
Notice how the seller keeps referring to whoever I send this to as "them" and "they." Like they are 2 separate entities, I'm not quite sure what that's all about. Anyways, here's the email I sent to service@ssautochrome.com:

Hello, I purchased a 38mm wastegate with a 6 psi spring from ebay, item #8054139455. My username is jagojon3 on ebay as well. I received the correct 38mm wastegate, but it had a 14 psi spring installed instead of the 6 psi. These springs look very similar as they are both red. The 6 psi spring is smaller and the 14 psi is larger, so I can understand how it could have gotten mixed up. I would very much like for you to send me the correct "small" 6 psi spring for my wastegate, as my motor cannot handle 14 psi and I currently cannot use the wastegate that you sent me. Please feel free to reply back if you have any questions. My mailing address is:

-removed from original email-

Thank you.
The next day, I receive an email from service@ssautochrome.com saying:

WILL SHIP IT EXPRESS TOMORROW
SORRY
And then I receive an email from fedex for tracking information for the spring being sent by 2-day air. I received the correct spring today.

The actual person who sells for them on ebay is an idiot, but it seems like the company itself has decent customer service. It's a good thing I opened up the wastegate before I used it to verify that I had the correct spring after hearing stories of others that had the exact same problem that I did. I recommend anybody who has bought a wastegate from them to open it up and make sure the diaphragm is seating right and the correct spring is included.

I'm impressed with the service you recieved from the actual company. Perhaps you should also email them what you posted here so they can "train" or "fire" whoever is running the ebay show.

Hey, I bought a ssauto wastegate, but it is not yet installed. I am afraid I have the wrong spring also but there is no color on it whatsoever. the little piston thingy in the wastegate is really hard to push down if i try to push it with my thumb. does anybody know what psi spring I have being that it doesnt have any color on it at all?
