Experience with brands of TV tuner cards

So, It's time for me to get a TV tuner card so i can watch TV in my room and not have to buy a TV (don't have the room for it also). Anyone have any suggestions as to brands or what to look for in terms of specs ? Any experience with the ebay ones ? Few exmaples, their pretty cheap

Basically I need to know the standards in terms of specs of what to look for. Thanks.

I swear by teh Hauppage cards. I use them with "Snapstream" software to build my own PVR systems. I haven't watched "broadcast" TV in years. Can you say "skip those commercials"?

buy a tv BOX not the card, tv cards is kinda a software modem, it works but use up a lot of memory and slow your ---- down.
Box goes between your pc and the monitor, works indiviudally, problem is that your monitor can only do one thing at a time, either being a monitor for your pc or full on tv screen.

You need to research. Last time I was looking at DVR/PVR setups I recall some blurb about which chipset you go with being good or bad. Hauppage is the way to go, as TT says, my friend Ron Rader swears by them and he's a huge media freak.
