Default ----------ers won't lend to me...

So I decided to try to get a small loan for a daily driver motorcycle through Houston FCU, who I bank with. A month ago I applied for a $4000 loan, but they decided they wouldn't loan to me because of a few things on my credit they didn't like. They said to take care of them and they'd reconsider. So now, $1000 later and 3 chargeoffs that are now paid chargeoffs, I resubmitted my loan application. A few days after submission, my bank calls me up and tells me they denied my loan, AGAIN. This time, though, it was because I have student loans that go into repayment in 2011, and based on the money I make NOW, I will have negative ability to pay both loans off in three ------- years.

I could have just used my tax return to buy a cheap 80's motorcycle, like a Magna 1100 or something I'd have been more than happy with. Instead, I took their advice, spent it on ---- that won't do dick to make my credit look better, and I'm stuck with my piece of ---- car that I don't even want anymore. The car's a money pit, has a bunch of problems, the inspection and registration are out (and it probably won't pass inspection now), and I won't get a quarter of what I've put into it if I tried to sell it. And to make matters worse, I can't afford to buy a more dependable car with cash up front, and nobody I know will lend to me.

Just a quick rant. Anyway, does anyone know what I can tell the bank that may make them reconsider lending to me?

tl;dr: Bank won't give me a loan, I'm poor and I need a way to acquire a reliable vehicle, preferably with two wheels. Advice?

It may not be just you they won't lend to....Banks are in a bad spot right now with what is going on in the financial sector, they are not willing to freely lend money like they have in the past 10 years...... Back in college I could get a loand just like the one you said easily and unsecured. It could be that you are on the border of whatever lending criteria they have. That sucks, have you tried another bank?
