Re:Equal Length vs Log manifold video/dyno
That's ------- cool that they did that. I have always wanted to see the difference.
It's funny how they have like 35 guys working on swapping a manifold. I can't see that being too much faster than just one guy. The video makes it look like they rebuilt the motor while they were swapping manifolds. __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |

I gues my only questione is, how did the air/fuel ratio look between the two dyno pulls. ??? 98ctr

Re:Equal Length vs Log manifold video/dyno
i think the manifold beau made for me in the reason my numbers at 10psi were so much higher than like dustins and other LS's. most had logs im sure

Cool video!
Im gonna go and weld up some log manifolds now :P |

Re:Equal Length vs Log manifold video/dyno
I saw this whole comparison and I think its a little one -sided. First lets consider the price difference; $150 for a log vs $1200 for a Full-Race. Therefore the 68hp came at a price of $1,000. You could buy rods and pistons for that price and up the boost for massive hp gains. If your considering one of these manifolds, you should think long and hard about what are your HP goals cause a $1200 manifold on a stock manifold is just stupid.
Also they're comparing the absolute worst manifold to a merge collected manifold. Of course its going to make more power. I am willing to bet money that if they dyno tested a ported HF manifold compared to that log manifold they made, it would show the same hp. If they built a manifold with a merge collector that hp difference would dramatically increase. Kinda like that new manifold from Lovefab, sometimes simplicity is good. But they say that a merge collector on a log is useless becuase it works off of pressure which is also bullshit. Mass flow rate is what spools a turbine, any thermodynamic class will tell you this. If the gasses are running into themselves, swirlings, causing a massive loss in velocity that will translate into lost power. If you direct those gasses into the turbine with even a simple merge collector you will see huge power gains. However, this test did prove that good marketing sells tons of manifolds to people who don't really need them. |
Re:Equal Length vs Log manifold video/dyno
hmm... I'm not convinced it has alot of merit for a fun potent street machine ...certainly not on a budget. The turbo on my 1600cc Toyota made 140 factory HP on the car it came from, with the stock gate I'm making close to 200 HP with 40% less cubes than the OEM application, you can't tell me that I'm going to make even close to another 50 HP just by switching manifolds with my little 250 cfm turbo!
I didn't like the vid, reminded me of an infomercial with only half the story, besides it sounded like they had an exhaust leak with the log. Neil |

Read the thread, nothing was touched as far as boost, 10psi and 10 psi. DP's everything was the same. Not all of those manifolds are 1100 dollars either, neukin is 600 shipped Shitbird is 650 shipped Lovefab is 800 shipped RPI 840 shipped Ya they are a little expensive, but I would definatly just buy a collector from shitbird and end up making my own. Re:Equal Length vs Log manifold video/dyno
Ghetto D made a manifold just like that, and I know it wasn't even $200.
Going to beat Steph Papadakis = Buy it. Going to beat Brian Spilner = log it. ;) It is nice, but so is a ferrari. :-\ |
