Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
I have yet to a compression test, ect.
But i bought a 90 accord ex 4dr with a very clean body and interior. The car was one owner untill it was tradded in and i bought it very cheap, its got 184K on it. When you first start the car it smokes a ---- load blue smoke. It also smokes when you drive it hard and rev it up(lots of smoke >:D) And also has loss of power, during the test drive i hammerd it in 2nd and it barley pulled and woulndt redline for sum reason unknown. It just held 6100rpms or so untill i let off and shifted, but sitting still you could take it to redline with no problems other than smoke lol. Im thinking it needs some pistons rings. Note: The car drives fine if you dont mind smoke, I.E: and person could use it as a daily driver with no problems other than adding oil it idels fine also. So lets her HMT'S input and thoughts on my Junky f22a4. Thanks |
Re: Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
I think I heard that the headgaskets on those accords blow after 150k for some reason.

Re: Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
hmmm, do u think it could be only the head gasket making that much smoke? For some reason i haddnt thought of that. also how can i find out whats exactly wrong with the car? So maybe i wont have to buy a entire motor lol, cuz if its just the headd gasket i will replace that and order the f22b dohc and boost the ---- outta the f22a untill that blows hahah.
Thanks |
Re: Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
Well do a compression test.
The person I heard that from has been a honda tech for 15 years. He said once the gasket goes, the engine is crap because it will blow again in 10k miles. I don't remember if this is the engine he was talking about though, just remember it was an old accord. |
Re: Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
valve seals in the head are shot for sure ... could be other ---- to though ...possibly rings ...h/g would be white smoke usually

Re: Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
Pull your plugs,if there is oil on the threades valve cover leakin oil, if the plug is carboned up maybe loss compression. Go to vatozone and rent a compression gauge. If it's a steady stream of gray smoke HG

Re: Engine smokes a lot, lets hear your thoughts
Compression is low. Best bet if your not a mechanic or have the funds, get some no smoke yes the stuff works and drive the car like a grandama
